War StoriesThis section is for discussion of any races you may have particpated in. If you smoked someone like a pack'o'cools, let us know. Likewise, if you got beat... let us know by what, so we can keep an eye out for it next time.
The speed limit does not state that everyone is suppose to reach that speed, it is a set limit at which your not suppose to exceed. The driver was legally within his right to drive 5mph below the speed limit if he so wished, but your aggresive attempt to follow close on his bumber needlessly endangered his life and your own.
Ok, Lets say that dont matter to you in the least, lets take a different look at the situation.
Lets say a accident happend in which you were at fault and you totalled his car.
The base price of his car could easily be around $70,000 and with options the price could approach $80000.
If your insurance covered up to $60,000 dollars worth of damage to another persons vehicle you could easily be left with having to pay $20,000 out of pocket to replace his car. This is not to mention any further cost you might accrue if anyone saw your aggresive driving and the driver wished to sue for personal injury.
This can be a terribly costly mistake on your part all due to the fact he wasnt driving 5mph faster than you felt he should have.
I dont like people in front of me distracted on the road by talking on the phone any more than the next guy, but I take for granted there not the safest drivers and give them a wide margin for safety in case something stupid should happen.
WHY THE FUC$ would you come to a race thread and lecture on safe driving???
Dude, I have read alot of your posts and have a decent amount of respect for your opinions in OTHER threads, but this post was kind of annoying. Are you kidding me??
Hmmm. Possibly because I see the difference in two people making the choice to engage in a race and being willing to take the involved risk which is much different in my opinion to running up and riding someone’s *** for whatever reason.
For the record I have never visited the War Stories forum's and lectured against racing. The original post directly involved driving which could be considered to be aggressive in nature against the other vehicle, and this has nothing to do with racing at all.

Personaly, I think bump drafting should be legalized. That is why I have a big sign on the back window of my Titan that says "If you're being passed on the right, you are in the WRONG DAMN LANE"
I know about tailgaters, I just cost one $150,000 for totaling my last truck and f---n up my neck.
That Bimmer could smoke a Titan even if it had a flat tire. The driver of the 745i must have not been all the way hammer-down. Especially with a roll-on, unless he had the 'tiptronic' shifting paddles and just didn't drop a gear, he would have blown your doors off.
Some of these war stories are funny. We'll have to assume that not everyone we think we are racing actually has the pedal to the floor when we do.
I have to disagree on that one. The 745 has a little less than 1 second advantage on the titan from 0-60. The outcome all depends on the driver and how bad he spins the tires. 0-70 would be a close race, after that the titan would be toast.

soo... you are agreeing then! great.
If it does only do 0-60 a second faster, and a stock Titan is right on his bumper, than the guy in the bimmer obviously wasn't into the floor.
Looks like average 1/4 mile ETs on a stock 745i late model are 14.3-14.6
The fastest I got my truck to go stock was 15.6-15.9 and I have the LIGHTEST model, KC XE. That was with mirrors folded, tail gate down, aired down tires, etc.
I totally agree with your conclusion about roll-on (over 60 mph...). Most sedans with adequate power and aerodynamic design would have a roll-on advantage. There is just too much wind resistance for us to do very much 'damage' at freeway speeds against most powerful cars these days.
Looks like Highland has a very nice SE CC. I'm betting an SE CC is just a bit slower than an XE KC so maybe an estimate like very low 16's in the 1/4 for his truck is respectable? Great.
I don't like the BMW 745i, mostly because of the interior. That FUNKY knob on the console that controls everything is wayyy too hard to use in traffic. Much worse than a cell phone distraction could ever be. If you sit in one and try to simply put it in drive, it is just so sophisticated.. its frustrating how far ahead of the curve BMW is. That vehicle's user controls should be on a space shuttle or something.
BUT I have alot of faith in that drive train's power. Every different body style change they take leaps and bounds towards efficiency and output gains. The new 745i can stomp the older M5s, and that's not too shabby at all.
If you think that vehicle's fast getting on the freeway, just wait till you hit the curvey stuff. A Titan would be lost after the first turn. "Where'd he go?"
Speaking of tailgating, I had to read this blonde babe's bumber sticker the other day, it read " If your'e going to ride my a s s , at least pull my hair!"
I love babes.

A titan and a 745 ya right. These trucks are fast yes but still many cars are much much faster, simply because of the weight. A 745 half throtle would put the hurt in my Titan. Full throttle it wouldnt even be a race it would be how much dust could my intake suck up.

Against a stock Titan. Dude you would have to be a fool to think you could hang with it. My titan is fast but not that fast. Its like racing a Porsche 911 and Impala seriously. Similar horsepower and the titan wieghts way more, plus the bemer has a better trans. Do the math. lol what I said is an exageration but that bemers gonna win hands down. Like when I smoked the ricer accord.
I hope you guys aren't talking to me.. cuz you are reiterating my point of view.
Highland probably just mistook the guy for being at full throttle, happens all the time.
BTW, I got into it with a brand new looking BMW "530i," that cool looking body style they adapted down from the 7 series.
Yeah, he smoked me too .
I boxed him in on the interstate and that pissed him off so the next free space he got he floored it and I did the same... not a chance in hell I could keep up.

I'm saying no way can a Titan keep pace with a 745i. I ran neck and neck with a 325i.

The 330 is a differenly story the 325 is the entery level.
Bottom line many vehicles that are closely matched by a 1 sec difference it will usually go to the one who hits the pedal first until a higher speed is reached. Like it you wait to see if a bimmer is going to hit it, you lose, if they wait to see if you hit it they lose, but they will slowly draw you in, depends how much room you have.
