New HEMI on the horizon

I know, I know, Its not really a Hemi, Dieter just had to use the name. But I am not sure how we are going to fare guys, against the new 6.1L Pseudo Hemi. It should have a tick over 400hp. So start preparing our Titans now. The new Hemi's will be knocking at our doors soon enough. They are available in the 06 Rams. Now where the F*^K is that Stillen (or as its better known STEALIN) supercharger? I think I'm gonna need one of those.

One of the guys at work is begging for a beat down by my Titan, and I keep telling him to drive his HEMI in, he keeps driving his POS Dynasty in saying gas prices are killing him, (im sure they are ;-( boo hoo). But continues to talk smack all day long. I would like to get a vid of my Titan beating his Hemi down with the DCx headquarters in the background for us to have out here.

I will keep egging him on in the meantime, hoping he will take me up on the challenge.

Just thought I would share.

I'd love to see a video of that myself. Hopefully he'll surprise you one day. Just be sure to take the video camera everyday for when you get your one opportunity.

Do you guys think the 5.7L Hemi will still be available in the 06 Rams?

Not sure.

They are putting the 6.1L in the "New Charger" (which is just a 300C). But its an option, not a standard replacement for the 5.7L in the 300 line up.

The trucks may be a different story. It will be more cost effective to just go to the 6.1L and shut down production of the 5.7L, but then you would have to put it in all cars (300's , Jeeps, and trucks). So both may be available for a while.

I will take the vid cam to work, he keeps telling me that one day he is going to bring the hemi in to teach my Titan a lesson. (so pathetic......sigh)

Well they are using the 6.1 in their SRT versions of the 300c and other vehicles, but I didnt know it was in standard equipment configurations, so I would doubt they would can the 5.7 so soon, the cost of the 6.1 compared to the 5.7 will be too much for regular production vehicles IMHO. Also it hasnt been around all that long has it(5.7)?

And remember to lose the spare tire and take off the tailgate.

Another Friday has come and gone.

Well needless to say he continues to banter about his HEMI, and how pathetic my little Titan is, I continue to invite him to bring his POS so he can show me just how amazing his POS Dodge is. The vid cam remains in the truck for that wonderful moment when I wipe the smile off his face.

As for the 6.1L HEMI, its literally a punched out 5.7L so the cost in no different to manufacture.

Actually, it has different heads, intake, and cam also, along with the larger pistons and slightly higher compression ratio, 10.3:1.
It also has different connecting rods to handle the extra rpms.
They basically ported the heads, I don't think it was necessary though, but I guess they were thinking about drag racing and high rpms since they shortened the runners on the intake and increased the diameter as well.
Out of all this the only thing that helped the bottom end power was the increased displacement.
It's going to be a top end charger though. If one were to put a higher performance cam in that engine and remap the fuel curve, 500 hp would be relatively easy, of course at the sacrifice of bottom end torque.

I tell you Dodge "could" have a real winner on its hand if they could provide a solid 5- speed tranny and more rear room.

Nice car moparman!!

Thanks Z28, by the way, I'm also building a '70 Z 28 drag car right now. I'm builing the 468 for it right now and I ordered some Canfield heads for it. It should run 10's on pump gas, later.
