Dragstrip: Bad times - great results

89-86 degrees and 95% humidity. Looking at the correction factors it is the same as running at 2630 feet of elevation. Needless to say times were slow but my best before the traction went away was a 13.903@96.69mph. Plugging that in to a correction factor: 13.47@99.83.

Most of my runs were in the 14.2-14.0 second range at about 95 mph. On just motor, 15.08@91.01mph was the best (corrected: 14.61@93.97mph) and that was spinning a little at the start. I had traction problems on every run but the 13.90 one.

However, this was enough to beat:
A 2005 Mustang GT (barely), a WRX Impreza (smoked him by like 6 lengths - plenty of witnesses for any naysayers), my first Lightning kill - mainly because I think he was actually stock, another mustang GT (left him way behind), and a new F-150 (I ran him with the 15.08, all motor, and must've had at least 10 lengths - it was HEINOUS UGLY). So all in all, it was a very good night. I only lost to a convertable cobra due to the fact I left the tranny in 1st. It was also the worst launch for traction so after slamming the rev limiter, I just let off.

It was nice to meet a few new faces. Titano's wife had to do a Head Conversion when he suggested that he needed a few mods as seen here...

Hey Head, have you ever thought about video taping some of your runs? I'd really like to see some of these wins.

Yeah I would love to but my camera blows goats. I asked if anyone coming tonight was bringing one but got no responses and no one did by incident anyway.

I actually have an idea to make it funny/cool using the hockey mask and some other props. Anyway, yes, I want to try and get something together.

That would be awesome, I'm sure you know someone that would be more than willing to spend a day at the track filming your kills. Would be nice to edit it together into a video with some music.

Yes, I have a small 50hp shot of nitrous. Mods: Volant box, Reso delete with Moroso spiral flow mufflers in their place, Banks cat-back, electric fans, 2800 rpm stall speed.

I also run 29" tall tires on stock off-road wheels while at the track and remove the tailgate, spare, and some other dead weight.

I should say that I weighed the truck and with me in it in full street trim the wayI drive it everyday it weighed 5235 with a 1/4 tank of gas. With the tailgate, spare, and bed divider removed along with the shorter tires on the off-road wheels it weighed 5035 with me in it. The scale at the track measures in 5 pound increments so I'm not quite sure what the accuracy is. So figure about 200 pounds saved by removing that stuff and swapping tires. It helps.

Official answer: I don't know.

What I think - it might help down low with creating a sort of restriction/creating turbulence but that will hurt high RPM power gains, especially if you have other mods.

Some people think they help, others don't. My opinion is that I don't want anything restricting air going into the motor and that includes ridges or any other type of protrusion into the air stream with the exception of the nitrous nozzle for obvious reasons. You have to bear in mind that no two vehicles are the same and it is ultimately the combination of parts that make any difference and not just one that bolts on.

Your mileage may vary.

makes sense in some way. i was debating on getting one but i dont want to sacrifice high rpm either.you problably loose more high rpm that what you gain in your low.if thats the case not worth it

"a new F-150 (I ran him with the 15.08, all motor, and must've had at least 10 lengths - it was HEINOUS UGLY)"

Yes, but that is because the F-150s are specifically designed for bumper pull tug of wars.

So, I'm guessing the F-150 would have smoked you if he had been dragging a Titan behind him down the strip...makes sense (to FTE).
