RX7 anyone??

I think I know the answer to this one. But I will ask it any way. Will the newer RX7 king cab (thats what I call it) spank my Titan? Here is why I ask. There is this guy I seem to see everyday coming to work and he seems pretty cool cause everytime we go by each other he speeds up like he wants to race. First a little background. I HATE TICKETS!!! Got my first one in 14 years July 1st. Dont want another. But today we both got poleposition at the red and I wanted to but with my luck there would be a FHP sitting back about 7 cars just waiting, and I didnt want to risk a ticket if there is no chance of at least giving a good run. (Like thats worth a ticket ) I guess its an ego thing maybe my last testosterone cell trying to get an erection, I dont know. But I would like to think I could at least stay with him to show him "Yea its 5700 lbs and can hang with your 20 lb. chick car". Let me know what you guys think. Is it worth the tread loss on my new shoes and the gas to give it a whirl?

Re: RX7 anyone??

Heli, do you mean the RX8? It's light and quick, but has no torque. If he isn't a great driver, you can beat him.

Re: RX7 anyone??

Especially if it's an auto and not a 6 speed. That twin rotor engine is smooth and revs high, but all the power is up in the rpm band. good luck

Re: RX7 anyone??

yea, i could be wrong, but in anyting up to 60-70, you should be slightly ahead, then i'd think he'd pull on you. But like you said, your in a full size truck....he's in a b1tch car...........so he can do the math

Re: RX7 anyone??

Manual = 250 Hp = 0-60 in 6.4, 1/4 in 14.49 (best run a professional could get out of it)

Auto = 210 Hp, couldnt find any numbers but you can do the figures.

I say take him, unless this guy is a great driver I think the best he can do is hang

Re: RX7 anyone??

I would be careful there. I use to sell mazdas and the RX8 is a swift little bastard. If it is an automatic, I think you can beat him. But the 6spd tachs out at 9200rpms. Let me tell you, when you dump the clutch in that car at 8500 rpms with the traction control on, it HUSTLES ! It has a pretty good LSD in the rear end that helps put the power down well. That engine makes no torque at all (160), but 238hp from 1.3 liters is pretty severe. It does hit 60mph in second gear at the redline. Has he done any mods to it? That car responds excellently to mods (headers, exhaust, chip, intake). A fella brought one in that had done exhaust, chip and intake and that bad boy was dynoed at over 300hp (brought his sheet to prove it). Then again, there is no shame in losing to sports cars that are designed to go fast, it is just wicked fun when a 5500lb truck smokes them.

Talking Re: RX7 anyone??

You might be wright heli if is like this one thats a RX7 and man you need to be carefull 20b rotary engine (3rotors) around 260hp or 13b with twin turbo ...
If is like mine
it would be fun for the 1st 4 seconds. standard or auto 0-60 the rx8 is not good. but hit the track and some twisties this car is in heaven... handles beautifull... top speed is 145 so dont race him on a long stretch... love it ...
