War StoriesThis section is for discussion of any races you may have particpated in. If you smoked someone like a pack'o'cools, let us know. Likewise, if you got beat... let us know by what, so we can keep an eye out for it next time.
Beat another Lightning. Almost beat a late model firebird. Beat a mustang. Lost to another mustang on nitrous ( I ran him on motor when I heard the purge). Beat a monte carlo SS. And last but not least (sorry dude!) I beat young Chad's titan. It was close - I think it was by a front fender length. So I got to keep my $5. We ran later on when I was jetting the nitrous and I'm not sure how much difference that was (it's on video).
Chad got some kills too so it was definitely a good night for the Nissans!

my best run was a 15.026 @ 89
my mods are:
k&N intake
magnaflow muffler
reso mod
no throttle body screen
coolant bypass
drop shackles @ helper springs
16 in drag wheels with nitto drag radials
no rear seats, or tailgate, or spare, = 4770 pounds with me in it (255)
Head got me, im not a sore loser, I had fun though.
I think i would have broke 14s if the computer wasnt governing me. (because of the small diameter tires and rims. everyrun i had was an 89. something) yet my speedo said 114, cant wait to go again hopefully after a chip is released

For comparison I'm running:
Volant CAI w/o the scoop
Banks cat-back
reso replaced with Moroso mufflers
No throttle body screen
coolant bypass
17" rear wheels w/29" tall tires in the rear
No tailgate or spare = 5005 with me in it this time
Electric fan conversion
2800rpm stall and valve body mods (no previous improvements ever shown, tho)
Mobil 1 in the engine and rear, Amsoil in the tranny
Also to be fair Chad weighed 4860 before taking out more stuff when we ran.
Best run on motor: 14.935@92.82 - with 80hp nitrous shot 13.90@97.4 that was traction limited.

Good times Head, I see you are running synthetic, excellent, I still haven't switched my differential or tranny, but it snould be worth a couple of tenths.
I haven't seen the Moroso mufflers, are they as good as the Dynomax ?
Where'd you get the 2800 converter, I would think you would need slicks with a good converter. Awesone start though for a 5000# vehicle, 12.9 if it was in something that weighed 3000#. Not bad.

These are the spiral flow mufflers. They're pretty cheap - just look in a Jegs or Summit catalog. I had the stock converter reworked. It didn't help at all, believe it or not. I'm not sure where the thread is on all of that in the performance section. I think I need about a 3200 stall on it to make any kind of difference.

hey what is the Throttle body screen and coolant bypass mod
and do they make any differnece
In between the throttle body and intake manifold there is a gasket to seal them together. There is a mesh screen mounted in it on the upper half of the gasket. No one is quite sure what it is for and there are a lot of opinions on the matter. From my perspective, it is a restriction and I wanted it out of there. The coolant bypass is just removing the hot water that circulates through the throttle body. This is mainly to prevent icing in winter. I live in Houston so that's not going to be a problem for me. Some people say it helps, some don't. I think it does ever so slightly, but that is my opinion and others disagree with that.
