You know what. I'm given respect where respect is due. Here's two Dually's dueling it out at the strip. Anytime you can make a 6000lbs+ truck run a 1/4 mile damm near into the 11's at 120 mph, that gets respect in my book. And it's a Dually diesel on top of that.

Good question. 6 G's for us to gain around a sec or 2 at best in the 1/4. What's that thing gained. I'm guessing stock he's running around 17 sec. Hmm ok, how much to knock off 5 seconds. Man, if we did that we would be in the 10's. Of course I'm just talking out my lead foot here.

At the last all-diesel shootout here in Houston there were a couple running 9s and more than a couple in the 10s. No joke.
In 100 words or less, what do they have to do to get to that? What will the whole Banks package, including the "6 pack", get them down too? Do you have to do propane or something with all the Banks stuff?
Banks is great for a reliable increase of power throughout the rpm range. But they are just meant for the street and towing, specifically. Banks Engineering has built a lot of fast vehicles but the diesel kits he sells "over the counter" aren't the best racing packages out there.
There are several high performance diesel companies out there. You can do a search and find them. Some offer packages that come with 1000 ft-lb of torque. Needless to say the trucks that run these kinds of numbers are built for the track mainly, and the street second. Looking under the hood of these trucks you'll generally see and entire set of extra injectors (at least on the Cummins ones I saw) and some massive turbos with 6" exhaust. And man do they belch out the black smoke. I'm sure some run propane injection on top of all of that but most of them are doing it on all motor with a bunch of head work.

Most of the really high-horsepower diesels are running sequential (series) twin turbochargers, which produce as much as 100 psi boost (one Cummins-engined Ford F-350 produces 130 psi boost!). Twin turbo kits cost ~$4500. As head mentioned, bigger injectors and head work are needed along with a special high-output fuel injection pump. This can add up to quite a bit of money.
I have a TST PowerMaxCR on my 2003 Dodge/Cummins. You can get some pretty impressive gains from just this "chip", but my stock clutch gives out on anything above about power level 5.

They are also running NOS on these things now, not just propane anymore. There would be no embarrassment in losing to one of these. The good thing is not everyone can afford to take them that far. You also have to spend a bit on the drive shaft and u-joints. They can turn a stock turbo up hot enough to twist the drive shafts.

WOW! I had a big Ram dually like the red and white one, but that honker is GOING... Mine would shove you back in the seat... but with the stickshift, you'd run out of revs before you could really get her going. These guys have to have some serious custom gearing, perhaps in an auto so they can get the shifts in quick. Mine didn't take lightly to slamshifting. Doing that to the stock gearbox is playing fast and loose with your next four paychecks...
THINK of all the weight you're shoving down the road at that kind of speed - almost FOUR TONS and it gets REALLY impressive. I had a Banks kit and a VanAaken box on mine, and it would really go -- in comparison to stock. I surprised a couple of guys with it in the midrange, (dump the clutch on second to launch) but once you got to about 50, it started to be all over.
But I guess this is kinda like making the comparison to my old Beetlebus that I stuck the Porsche motor into...
