titan vs. hemi- dragstrip results.

Time and Place: New England Dragway 6/24
Trucks: My 04 4x4 bonestock CC Titan SE config in sig.- never checked air pressure,3.36 gears, spare was present as was tailgate, bed divider, sliding bed extender, and 2 car seats.
VS.
My pop's 04 Dodge Ram 1500 QC 4X4 Hemi Ram. Equipped with the stock 17" tires, 3.55 gears, both spare and tailgate present and a bed cover(soft) being the only assy. .

Both trucks Bone Stock.

Best results for each truck- Titan 15.45@ 88.71 mph

Hemi Dodge 16.05@ 86.91 mph

Race went like this. To start off I ran 4 times while the hemi dodge at a heavily advertised hemi venue being that of New England Dragway where you are bombarded with dodge hemi marketing shut it down after only 2 runs. The best times for both truck came on the first run of the day and were direct competition, with loads of bragging rights at stake.

Maybe due to the increased pressure of the situation I got smoked on the light, giving the Hemi Dodge and my Father a full truck Length lead and a 4 tenths reaction advantage. Which of course doesn't matter in measurement, but sure as hell matters in side by side competition. The Titan lurched ahead without protest from the rear tires and a welcomed roar of the might 32valve V8, immediatly pulling even with the Hemi Dodge's rear wheel, a crisp blistering fast shift from the Titans automatic transmission into 2nd gear propelled the 33 in. all terrain rear tires into action and the Nissan began its pull and was now even with the Hemi ram and carrying alot more momentum than is now becoming apparent over hyped competiton . Another quick shift into 3rd gear and its obvious it just became "Titan Time" pulling a truck length lead and slowly stretching that out while successfully fending off any top end the Hemi Dodge might think it has until the end of the run. A quick glance of the slip shows that the titan overwhelms its similerly equipped Hemi Dodge advasary even more so then the side by side comparison would indicate.
After two runs, next run being a 15.6@ 88 I gave the Titan a break feeling that i've proved my point. But after being overcome by Hemi commericials in constant loop playback over the tracks PA system and witnessing two New jeep grand cherokee hemi's that could not best 16.2@85mph and a couple brand new silverado's in the 16.4-16.8@82 range it quickly became Titan time once again. Unfortunately the next runs where against an SRT neon and a supercharged 5spd maxima, the titan stayed with the srt till the srt spooled up 2nd gear. I got a great reaction time and stayed in front of the supercharged maxima until 50mph at which time the maxima went screaming/whinning by.
All my slips are below, the first being the titan vs. hemi slip. then a 1st gen Eclipse GSX(couldn't tell you why he was so slow, gave me a good chuckle though), 3rd srt neon and last the s/c maxima. The talk was that the track was slow that day, I was tickled pink with my times, but would be great if true, find out next time.

Nice kill, but most quad hemis are running mid 15's. those 3.55 gears kill the hemi.

Most 4x4 QC hemi's i've seen run exactly like my father's 16's, 15.99 with a tailwind. Even slower with the 20's.

Thanks for taking the time for the writeup. I enjoyed that. More evidence stock for stock the Titan is a superior truck out the package than it's rival.
