Mustang annhilation - being discussed at Nissan Titan Forums in the War Stories section.
Well, it's not a Titan kill story but I thought I would share it with you folks.
I decided to take the Roadrunner to work, it's about 3.5 miles or so, not too much race fuel
Anyway, I gave some friends a ride at lunch and it was a fun day. I left work and I'm going home and I see this new black Mustang GT coming up on me fast!
I grin as I drop the Quarter stick to 2nd on the reverse pattern and I wait for him to pull up beside, he slows next to me and he doesn't look so confident once he sees the 6 pack hood scoop and hears the flowmasters talking to him.
He points forward as if to ask should we race, I point at him and motion for him to go first, we were doing about 35mph, he hit it and I let him get about a car length before I dropped it to 1st for the hell of hit and romped past as the tack was tickling 7200, shifted to 2nd and brought it to about 6500 and shut it down.
He was aways back and I slowed to wait for him, he caught up and he was just shaking his head giving me the thumbs up.
I just wanted everyone to know how good you feel in a very fast car on the street, although the whole day probably cost me about $25 in gas for about 10 miles!!!LOL.

i miss those roadrunners....a good friend in highschool that i also went to church w/ had 3.....a 440/six-pack, a scary fast-primered up-exhaust fumes gonna kill you-400 4-speed, and a 426 hemi. not to mention his little red express truck. we had some fun times......sounds like you did to
Or make ya feel like jumpin' off a bridge...if you're on the losing side of that race...lol!
I think he'll be alright, that was a sweet stang and he had it dressed up very nicely.
It just wasn't fair, one mustang and 300 friends against 550! ...at the flywheel, I dunno bout the back wheel, probably around 480 or so.
I had a neighbor that was restoring a superbird, unfortunately he passed away last year from cancer so I think his wife sold it. He also had an late 60's nova too. Shame really.

Musclecars can piss you off when they're broke but they make up for it
when they sing to you and that Big Block V-8 is throwing down, I had that baby up to almost 8000 rpm the other day when I wasn't paying attention, it reminded me of that line in Dracula; "children of the night, what sweet music they make"!LOL.
I just had to weld my solid motor mounts because they kept vibrating apart.
I love smallblocks too though, I'm working on a 340 Demon also, hopefully it will be a wicked 180 mph highway star that handles vettes.
I know, I'm might kill myself in one of these, but a buddy of mine said "if you aint on the verge of killing yourself now and then, you aint living". Ha, so true.
A college buddy had a roadie with the tall tail man it hauled. I had a stang GT 67, it cowered when it was parked next to the yellow roadie!
Are those rpms safe for your engine?
Well,not really
I'm probably good to 7000, after that, it's anybodies guess. I have forged pistons and heavier 6 pack rods and ARP rod bolts, forged crank and balanced assy. with a nice harmonic balancer, so I should be ok for an occasional overrev! LOL
The small roller cam helps too so the valves aren't hanging out in the breeze too long. It only makes power to 6400 because of the old heads, with modern aluminum heads I would shift at 6900.
I have a set of ported Indy heads lying around that would give me an extra 100hp but I'm saving them for a 505ci stroker project. Can you say 9 second Cuda!!!!
My projects are plodding slowly ahead but here's what I'm working on:
1969 Roadrunner Street/Strip 11.7's in the Summer;
1970 Cuda Drag car, full cage, fiberglass fenders, doors, hood, and decklid,
needs lexan windows finished, and a 9" 3rd member;
1971 Dodge Demon 340, trying to replicate Mopar Action's Flying Brick project that terrorized vettes and other sports cars during several rounds of Car an Driver's One lap of America race.
1970 Camaro drag car, .060 overbore 454 for 468ci, Canfield Heads, 9.5:1 compression, powerglide, 4.56 gears, should run high 10's on pump gas.
What's a fair price to expect to pay for an old mopar (in running, but needs resto condition)? I was gonna get a tuner/ricerocket to play with but my friends talked me into restoring a muscle car. This will be my first resto but my friends have done work and would help. They have mustangs but I gotta go with Mopar. Looking for a 68-69 Charger, 70 Roadrunner/Satellite/GTX or 70-71 Challenger. Where are you located and what do cars like this in your area go for?
Man, it's anybodies guess now, prices are skyrocketing, but you could probably find a Sattelite or Coronet for a good price, if it says Roadrunner, Superbee, R/T, etc. the price is going up.
Chargers are expensive but Challengers are more. You can still find Dusters for a good price.
I live out here in Henderson, next to Las Vegas, so finding stuff out here in the Desert is tough.
I would find a 73 Duster(70-72 look better but have the small wheel bolt pattern) put a 70 front clip on it, and you are in business. They are light, look good and will accept a big block pretty easily.
If you have to have one of the above mentioned cars, start searching and scrounging, look through old neighborhoods, search small towns, and you will find it eventually.
Good Luck and happy hunting.
