Good Will Hunting

Well I have been doing mundane things around the house all night. Had to get out of the house and take a little drive down my favorite stretch of road. Woodward Ave.

Just out for a slow cruise to see whos out with what toy, when a young punk kid pulls up to the left of me in a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Has his tunes bumpin, he blips the throttle and starts nudging the light. The little green light flashes, I put my right foot in it, hear his tires chirp and what do you know, we have another live one. Again the little Titan that could pulls the little GTP.

Bumpin boy decides he wants another go at it at the next light, tunes turned off this time. Only to end up with the same result. Chalk another one up and put another notch in the bed rail.

Do my little loop through Royal Oak and on my way back North on Woodward, come accross 2 kids in a Saturn Vue. The kid pulls up to me on my right and hits the throttle, Thinking to myself "you cant be F'in serious" I wait until we get to a red light. The kid really wants a go at the Titan. Thinking this will be funny as hell, I nail it on green only to see him drop back to the passenger side door, it sounds a little strange, almost healthy. This saturn is actually almost holding its own against the Titan. We continue this game for about 4 miles, Just barely pulling away from him each time. I am a little shocked. Actually I am quite shocked! We finally get to a red light and I notice that its a Saturn Vue Redline.

The kids ask what I have done to the Titan and are pretty friendly. They love the way the Titan Sounds. I ask what he has done to the Redline, He laughs and says 50hp shot of Nitrous. He is shocked that the Titan was able to pull him.

I have to give it to the kid, it was close each time, the Titan just barely edging him out.

A special thanks to the Blizzard White Titan that has not let me down yet.

Yeah, I guess it would be a pain in the *** to have to go all the way home for the other car.

Yeah,

Hate to have to pull out the big gun. especially to put some kid in a Saturn in his place. Would look rather ridiculous.

That would have been worth it.

I'm getting older, but always looking for a young hottie.

Vector in the 1/4

The Vector is really set up for top end. Its by no means a drag car. It pulls 1.25 G on the skid pad with the rear sway bar and shocks adjusted as stiff as they will go. But she is respectable when it comes to acceleration.

But the car is fairly quick, 0-60 happens in 3.9 seconds, the quarter mile ticks past at 12.0 at 129mph she tops out at a heady 242mph.

As for the Vector, only the prototype W2 had an actual Chevy small block very early on. Later it received a Donovan block, then the production cars all were blessed with Rodeck Y-Blocks. (splayed 6 bolt mains on the end caps and splayed 4 bolt mains in the center).

Each car was guaranteed to have a minimum of 625hp, 609ftlbs of torque from the factory. But just like people they all have personalities. This particular car dynoed out at 749hp, 650ftlbs of torque (by the way, Vector dynoed them all at the rear wheels, not the crank). With 110 octane race fuel you can twist the little (factory) boost knob in the dash for a maximum of 14lbs of boost. This will put you well in to the 1100hp mark.

Awesome, I didn't know they were using the Donovan stuff.
What displacement did it turn out to be?

So why isn't it sleeved to 572 yet? LOL/JK

I want to install some turbos on the Demon that I am building, perhaps even the 440 in my RR, it would be fearsome with fuel injection and a turbo.
I started reading about Vectors back in the early 80's, If I had my own automobile company, the cars would be very similar, I haven't looked into it in awhile and seeing your Vector brought back old memories.
Very Cool car.

Thanks

I spent a long time working at Vector. Almost as long of a time looking for one of the 17 production cars to purchase. I am happy to have her. Wouldnt trade her for the world. I have been offered rediculous amounts of money for her, but it is not about the money. It is part of my past that can never be replaced.
