Porsche Cayenne'd...anyone?
I've been on several auto forums and enjoy reading the war stories/kills, living vicariously through those brave folks.
Well I thought I'd share my first real run and gun experience. Being that it's the week of 4th of July traffic isn't that bad. I JUST put on my intake and exhaust two days ago so I'm having some fun breaking it in, reving and getting on it when the opportunity comes. I pull up to a light by 183 and Cameron (if you know Austin, you'll know what I'm talking about) and right next to me is a black Porsche Cayenne and the guy in there was fairly young, looks to his right and sees me there and we both look ahead...there are no cars in front of us at all. He revs first and smiles, so I oblige. What the hell, there are no cops, not really any traffic, and I'm not anywhere close to a pedestrian filled neighborhood. He takes off, and I step on it, and being very inexperienced, I kind of lay a bit of rubber, get traction and take off.
I pull up about half a car length behind and feel I got power to spare and boom, HE floors it, and zoom he's off...I'm toast. LOL...I start to laugh as I roll up to the next stop light where he could've already set up a tent and campfire. I saw that it was turbo and probably didn't have a chance in hell but admit it was fun to play along. He rolls down his window and asks is that Nissan's full size, I go yeah, he says "I like the way it looks (most likely from his rear view mirror) nice truck" and I give the same compliment about the Cayenne, imo a great piece of machinery. He gives a peace sign and turns as I go straight.
Who knows maybe I made the guy's day by letting him open up a bit on his 80k+ ride. I probably wouldn't race (or chase) again like that but I also liked compliments on the truck especially from a guy who's tastes are pretty high. So I guess that made my day.
Not a kill, a valiant effort, but a good ending.
Note: I did not break into the triple digits to show I'm not that insane on a public road.
