I Walked A 1984 Corrolla

I pulled up to a red light one afternoon last week and this idiot in his hopped toyota corrolla (a late 80's model) tried to blow me off the line...so i dropped it into first and manually shifted myself and i walked this yoda until i couldnt see him in my mirrors...does anybody else have any good stories?

Lol. Nice Kill. i can see how a superior Power to weight ratio could make the titan pull ahead although im sure it was closer than you say.
Those late 80's model Corollas had some serious power i think torque was an option thow.

I once beat a riced out civic at the strip with my supra, launched hard, pulled a 2.1 60 ft time, grabbed second, clutch wasn't too happy approaching the moment the wastegate would open at 15 psi of boost, clutch went into major slippage, got out of the gas and boost at about the 330ft mark, shifted to 5th gear for the remainder of the run basically off idle, ran a 17.0@55mph, still beat the civic, gave me a chuckle at an otherwise not so fun moment. I just wish I could have been there when the driver of the 17.2@80mph riced out civic w/fart can told his friends "I was really catching that supra turbo on the top end, just ran out of room". I know its not as good a corrolla kill but a kill none the less.

Don't want this to sound like an I know someone who knows someone post but my cousin has a 1970 corolla with some 73 bodyparts, shortened rear end he built up to run 12's.Not insanely fast but pretty damn good for an N/A all motor corolla, damn car looks like a mini muscle car and I been tryin to get him to sell me it for a looong time but nope. Not sure if he swapped a rotary motor in or what I cant remember what motor he got in it but with some f/i that thing would be pretty damn fast.

Had 1985 Corolla-60 hp-1969 Corolla-a lot less!

Hey,nice kill!I had a 1985 Corolla-they were 60 hp,and I think it was still a carb car.Got great mpg,but it probably did 13-14 sec 0-60.
I also had a 1969 Corolla stationwagon.I assure you, your cousin doesn't have anything of that stock motor in his 12 sec car(225+ rwhp in a small car like that might be enough). The motor was tiny-maybe 1100-1200 cc and it made about 40-45 hp(not counterbalanced either). The station wagon was only about 1800 lbs,but it was a LOT slower than the 1985-or the 1984 Corolla our heroic Titan Forum member just crushed.
If it is an all motor 12 sec car,he might have a Supra motor in it-or maybe a V-6 would fit a bit better. He sure as heck has nothing of that tiny original motor in there.Ask him what is in it?Charlie

I never wrote about these, a good kill and some beat downs at the strip.

Had the Titan at New England drag, lined up with a modded 1st generation Eclipse GSX with stickers all over the front quarter panels. I smoked him out of the hole, when I looked to my right he wasn't there, looked in the passenger mirror, there he is about 4 lengths back, kinda waited for him to give up but he held his ground, could see him creeping up but finished a good 2-3 lengths back. Titan 15.6@88.51(2.4 60ft ouch), GSX 15.9@90(2.6 60ft lol) Saw the same car later running low 13's so to his credit he obviously had issue's, but a kill none the less.

Next run, lined up with a Neon SRT-4, hung with him for a second, then when he spooled 2nd gear he started to pull. titan 15.6@88.61 SRT 14.6@95

Next run- looked to be a 99 or so maxima, looked bone stock, did notice as we waited in line that he was a 5-spd. I smoked him out of the hole, began to giggle thinking see ya, Then I was like WTF as this maxima started gaining and gaining fast, then it blew by with the unmistakable whine of a supercharger very audible over the sound of my pegged out V8. Titan mid 15 at 88 as usual, maxima 14.0@103

Best run of the night was smoking my dad's hemi QC 4x4 my best time to date 15.45@88.72- hemi 16.0@86.91
titan vs. hemi- dragstrip results.

Hmmm, with the Armada: Acura MDX, F150, Tundra, Civic, Hemi Grand Cherokee, Durango, BMW 325, Eclypse GT, celica GTS.
With the vette: Supercharged Mustang Cobra vert, Civic with NOs and SC or turbo?, 3000GT, 300Z TT, 350z, WRX STI, Porsche Boxter S, Mitsubishi EVO, Grand National.

With G35, Accord, RSX, TSX, TL, Eclypse GT & GSX, Civic, BMW 330, etc.

Haven't lost much but then I usually don't take on something I don't have a good shot at. I've lost to other vettes, a viper, 911 Turbo, and a Ferrari F355 with the vette.

Basically, I like to go fast at lights.

Corolla eh? I liked them back in the 70's, I think it had a 2TC engine?
It was a 1600cc with a Hemi head. Very cool little car, I had a 76, I also
had a Datsun 510 sedan, also very cool for an import back then.
