Saab 9-2 Aero VS Titan

I didn't come to start a flame war or anything, just sharing a story. My car is a stock 05 9-2 Aero 5 speed manaul (basically a WRX wagon) Copied and pasted from my Saab group. Enjoy!:
_______________________________________

So I had my first good roll race in the 9-2.

A Titan was driving like he owned the road at high speed on a 3 lane road that has two wide shoulders on each side with light traffic. A great high speed road. His truck was nice, 2WD and ext cab with an aftermarket exhaust and maybe a few other basic mods.

After toying with him for a min, we were able to get side by side at around 80 and we went for it. I pulled about ½ a car on him up to 100 where we shut down as there was a cop up ahead in the other lanes on the other side of some jersey barriers with someone pulled over.

Up the road a bit, he got even with me at the base of a high 3 lane bridge (mind u were were going uphill the whole 2nd race). I wasn’t sure if he was going to run or not so he got a bit of a jump and pulled a good ¾ a car or so at around 75. He wasn’t pulling any further ahead and were neck and neck at this distance with me pulling ever so slightly all the way to the top of third at around 95 mph. I hit 4th expecting to pull as I figured drag would start playing into the equation at these speeds but the opposite happened. I lost about a half of a car and then at around 105 I started to gain ever so slowly. At 110 I pulled the .5 a car back and being to inch but we were approaching traffic and just shy of 115 we had to shut down with me still half a car or so back (it was hard to tell as we had a lane between us).

After the run I was a bit shocked. I knew the Titans were quick but I forgot just how quick. I had run a stock one in my wifes 04 5 speed auto Accord (240 hp and probably traps at 93-94... I will find out this fall) and was able to pull about 1.5 cars from about 70-105 but the Titan looked stock.

Looking in Car and Driver, the 4 door Titan trapped at 91 mph. No wonder I had my hands full! Looks like if the road let us go a bit faster, he would have been dead in his tracks as the governor kicks in at 114…. oh well it was a rush and fun even though a bit of a cripple fight.

While I was every so slighty faster, I give the kill to him as he was in a full size truck. I think he deserved it.

GOD DO I NEED STAGE 1!!!!!!

Oh, and BTW, what kind of trap speeds do you guys get stock (ext cab 2wd)? Like 91 or 92 or so? How about with an exhaust? Maybe 92-93 mph?

Good story, and with stories like that, or even if the Titan lost, you'd be welcomed anytime...

Thanks for sharing!

A Stock WRX really isn't all that fast, So I have no doubt that the Titan was able to keep up with it.

Nice story thanks for owning up to getting beat. Course he woul'da beat you even worse if it wasn't for the speed limiter kicking in at around 114 MPH on the Titan.

Not Bad, reminds me of the Dodge Shelby Shadow ES-Turbo.

He didn't really beat me, he just got a jump the 2nd race. As I said, it was very close.

Looking at the stock times in C/D, I should have taken him if he was stock from a 70 mph roll. Maybe it was because it was hot, maybe it was because the exhaust... not sure.

In the end it doesn't matter, it was fun.

The WRX/9-2s really open up with a reflash (~96 mph traps) and then with an exhaust over 100 mph traps. The stock programing and exhaust sucks!

I must say this group seems fairly cool. Not a bunch of hot headed fanboys!
