Drag Strip-G-Tech Comparison Video And Drag Strip Vid of Chevy Z-71 4X4 Vs. 4X4 Titan

I Finally popped my drag strip cherry and had my drag strip virginity taken.

Ran at the strip for the first time ever today, tonight. Temp and humidity were terrible. 90 degrees with high humidity. If you look close you will see the temp on the rear view mirror read 87.0 degrees and rain drops on my windshield. It don't get much more humid than that. I see a high 14 in the future.

Edit: New best in 45 degree temp is 14.934 @ 90.53 MPH

Here

I ran in full armament. Didn't pull any tricks. Left the tailgate on, spare tire on and hardshell toneau was left on. I wanted to see what the beast could do in full battle trim. I'll take the tailgate, toneau and spare tire off next time and run in some hopefully cooler temps for a high 14, I'm hopeing. Two wins and two losses. Ran a muscle car twice, he was running mid 13's. Also ran a older model ricer, beat him, he wouldn't look over at me.

I made four runs. The best run was a 15.3119 @ 89.06 mph. The kicker was I got to go against a real nice Chevy 1500 Z-71 late model 5.3 ext cab Silverado. The guy was real cool and turns out I've run into him before around town. He said he sees a Titan running around that looks like mine and always wanted to run and played around a little but never got a real chance to see what's up. It was classic. We figured out that it was me that he seen. We got a good laugh and got to run each other. Ended up beating him pretty good. Here's the vid. (edited for the finishing touch)
4X4 Titan vs. 4X4 Z-71

I wanted to film me pulling away but got caught up in the moment concentrating too much but here's the in cab vid anyway. That's right, one hand on the steering wheel and one on the camcorder running the 1/4.

I filmed it in cab but I was so wrapped up in the tree and the race that I didn't get to show the titan pulling away to over a second victory so I've got the run down the strip. Titan-15.3 to Silverado -16.5.

I also ran the G-tech at the same time as I ran on some of the runs and whad da ya know. It was within 1/100th of a second accurate. It's nice to see it's dead on accurate, especially after all the testing and posting I've done with it.

Here's the short vid of one of the runs. BTW, this run was in 4WD.

Track G-Tech Comparison

All in all it was much fun for the first time at the strip and I have a feeling it won't be the last.

O yeah, time slips--

Finnattic good run!!!!!!!! You rock man
I say lower ambient temp, under 50% humidity, and some simple wieght reductions (and no camcorder in your hand, nice skills BTW) you should pop a real low 15, hell maybe a real high 14. Good luck, Rock on

Lol, yeah the camcorder is worth at least a tenth.

Couldn't you have a buddy film the runs from the sideline? I don't want to sound like an *** or an old man but running at the track and trying to film it while driving is just plain dangerous and stupid. You not only risk yourself but the guy in the other lane as well should you screw up. Not to mention it's a good way to NEVER be allowed at the track again if you get caught.

They left. The track officials saw me several times. Dangerous for someone that is incompetent maybe and not able to do more than two things at once. Putting in drive with an auto and driving in a straight line doesn't take much skill. I don't feel I was putting myself or anyone else in jeopardy but hey, that's your opinion and that's fine. I would like to come up with some type of mount in the future.

A mount would be a good idea. You must run at the most leanient track in the country if they are watching you run with a camera and not yanking you off the track. You said this is your first trip to the track. Yet you think you are an expert? I have raced for many years and know a lot of hardcore drag racers and I am sure they would agree racing with a camera in your hand in stupid plain and simple. Does this track let 10 second cars run with no cage?

I never claimed to be an expert. This isn't that hard man. I'm not shifting gears here and going in a smooth straight line in a 15 sec truck. I'm sure the normal rules for helmets, attire, roll cages, ect apply.
