You'r absolutely 100% correct. You're right about the aftermarket, but from the looks of things, the aftermarket is starting to make some serious moves toward hemi performance. When the Titan gets the backing, there is no doubt they will be heavy hitters at the track as well. Us chevy guys are just lucky gm actually did something semi smart and gave us a similar design to the ls1. Otherwise, we would really be in the back of the pack.

They are starting to make progress on the hemi, but most of it is useless until we can get a good tune. We have blower kits available, but they are not running at their peak because of tuning issues. We have a few aggressive cams now as well, but again no tune. I am installing a very mild cam only because it has been proven to work with my superchips tuner. If I had a tune, I would go with an aggressive cam, and a nice set of heads...I guess I will just have to wait....and wait...and wait...this sucks!!

Yeah I'm interested to see what the aftermarket for the Titans will be. I bet they can tune easily. I'm just waiten to see a turbo titan . Hopefully not at the track though..

considering you have exhaust and a K&N i would assume you are running very low 15 sec 1/4's..maybe upper 14's in some cold weather..good enough to probably run with the SS...but not good enough to walk one easily..

Stomping down on the gas, going to redline, and possibly downshifting is called racing. What do you do normally when racing, when you're not going to "the max"? Is there a difference?

How bad did you beat this SS, as far as lenght wise? Did you pull him out of the hole, or play play catchup and pass him? Do you spin at all when racing on the street?

yeah i spin at first. and i beat that SS by about a truck lenght.but on take of he took me a littel bit maybe about a fender lenght.

So I guess you went to the max to pass him....when your truck shifted into second did you drop it back to 1st in order to pass him?

how long was the race? when did you let out (mph wise)?

im not really sure how long the race was it was 3 lights.im guessing about a mile. i let up at 103 mph

Just to add a few pennies, Motortrend tested the 2005 Silverado SS (RWD) 0-60 in 6.7 seconds and 1/4 mile in 15.1 seconds

Pretty close to a Titan if you ask me.... Seems the RWD models arent as fast as the AWD.

That sounds about right to me. I honestly can't believe most are giving them the benefit of the doubt on those mid 14 claims. I've seen some SLOW stock SS trucks at the track, but hey, I've never owned one. I do know the VHO and Vortec Max trucks are putting down some good numbers stock. The ss is just too damn heavy to be fast "stock". AWD is good for one thing....and its not the big end of the track.

if were going to talk stock power and speed then i will say i believe the tit an will be faster than a ex cab gm and dodge. that is saying the gm has a 5.3l and the dodge has a 5.7l.

now compare a 6.0l gm with a tit an and dodge than i know the gm will win. does that make the 5.3 a slow motor. no.......and i'll leave it at that.


until dodge and nissan, and ford (to a degree) along with toyota get the backing gm has in the aftermarket then they will all be left behind once the mods begin.

dodge has tuning issues. great one DC! nissan, well, what does nissan have? exhaust and intakes? what else. same goes for toyota. ford does have some aftermarket value but from what i have seen over the years it's geared towards the L.

i am not here to flame anyones brands. you have your truck and i have mine. mine isn't better than yours, but yours sure as hell aint better than mine.
