chevy 4.8

My friend has a regular cab short bed 2005 chevy silverado with the 4.8 and a 5 speed, he has and CAI, headers, engine programmer, and more. I beat him by at least 2 truck lengths probably more. He has been talking smack for a while so we raced tonight, he didn't say much when we got back to work.

Good kill, must feel good to shut him up. He give any excuses or did he take it like a good sport?

LOL Gotta love the $hit talkers.. Just love to see them after the Titan shows it's power and makes them wish they owned one :P
The main reason i started modding my truck is beacuse this dip$hit at work with a hemi started talking smack on the titan, Just last week I asked him to go to the track with me and let's race, and he flat out said " No, it's a truck not meant for racing " Guess he's scared now :P

Re: chevy 4.8

We raced on the road in front of work no traffic at all and everyone at work was watching. He admitted to losing, but didn't say much else. I think he is about to put some more mods in it real soon.

Nice kill..

Sounds like he wasn't too bad of a sport about it.

Do you have any mods?

Re: chevy 4.8

He was a pretty good sport about it. The only performance mod I have is the AEM brute force intake, the same intake he has (but his is the oil filter not the dry like I have).

Nice kill. He can put as many mods as he wants. At the end of the day, it's still a 4.8 that is gutsless. My co-worker has a Sierra with a 4.8 and it's shameful.

Re: chevy 4.8

I had a 2000 Z71 4.8 5spd mnl w/3.73 grs and they are not fast trucks! however, It did pull my 23ft/5600lb dry 5th wheel remarkably well! Well over 10,000 mi coast to coast and nary grunt nor groan!

Re: chevy 4.8

Nice kill!! I know that the GM guys are quite
unhappy with the results of their programmer.
What kind of programmer, headers (shorties,
long tube etc) did he have? What kind of
1/4 miles times has he done? Sorry for all the
Q's!

I don't know what kind of programmer, I know he has shorty headers. I don't think he has run the 1/4 yet. I did notice that his AEM intake is atleast an inch bigger in diameter than my AEM intake.

Shorty headers do very little for HP gains. If you get
them available for the Titan I would not buy them.
Get mid or long tubes only.

Re: chevy 4.8

nice kill...judging by his mods, I would guess his little 4.8 is in the low-mid 15's depending on driver...not sure what purpose a hand held programmer would serve since it is a 5 speed manual..

Sounds about right. The programmer would still advance
timing and possibly change redline.

Their was a guy that lived around the corner from
me who had a late model RCSB Chevy w/4.8L.
He had a NX kit and 4.11 gears. He took it to
the track quite a bit and was doing high 14's N/A.

Thanks man, yeah the climate here sucks. Doesn't get that cool at all and it's always humid like a mofo. The vog here is just unreal. My previous best was at 70deg 76%humidity, best was at 61deg 57%humidity. Hopefully this saturday nights outlaws will have some good weather.
