War StoriesThis section is for discussion of any races you may have particpated in. If you smoked someone like a pack'o'cools, let us know. Likewise, if you got beat... let us know by what, so we can keep an eye out for it next time.
Well, this one most people will believe after my other post of racing the Boxster. Going on the I-210 I noticed a tan Silverado 1500 with aftermarket bulbs to give the "HID" look was tracking my tail. I guess that made him go faster. I decided to pace at 75 to see if he wanted to pass and he bit the hook. Once he got to mid truck I slammed it and gained back the distance to where he was back behind me... where he started. Again he tried it and this time, I let him pass, then floored it, passing him up again going about 90. This time I hit my brakes when I passed him about two car lengths ahead. Then of course...he tries passing me up and this time, I wanted to play around and just stuck with him head to head for about 1/4 mile, then floored it passing him at about 100. I guess he wanted to keep going taking it that he almost ran into a Camry cuz he saw me getting off my exit.
If that 1500 had the 300 HP engine in it. He would have taken ya on a roll like that. But then again he probably didnt. My buddie has a 300 HP chebby 2500 and I smoke him out of the hole. But if we start on a roll around 45 he will pull on me. I usually let off around 220 mph or so, just depends on the turns in the road! Its hard to say nice kill cause in all your stories someone almost gets in an accedent. I'll tell ya what.....Leave out the almost accedent parts and put in something like "No cars but us and we were way out in BFE with perfect roads." Then it could be a nice kill

I live off the 210 and it is never open enough to safely race somebody. You are a brave dude for endangering the lives of the other drivers on the road. Personally, I hope you get caught before somebody takes you to McDonalds for a 6 piece chicken Mcnugget and apple pie.

Hey, no offense...............
As Buzzkillwill says this is a racing area. There is no preaching here (unless your ordained ). I completely understand your point and agree. But I am with buzz. It is open here and not open to criticism. Constructive criticism is ok though, IMO!!

Yeah, I apologise. Something really crawled up my *** last night.
Ok, now to reiterate: Hey dude, if I were you I would try to keep the races between a speedlimit of say 85-90mph so you dont get busted. Think about it, we wouldnt be able to enjoy your awesome stories of waxing sports cars and the like were you to check in to a state run dude ranch.

Thats true, but it was the freeways in Los Angeles, and if you live in California, thats all we got unless I live in Palmdale where its strait roads everywhere. No accidents, kept it safe and slowed down when traffic came up....HE decided to keep going.

What city off the 210 you live in? Well, anyways, I keep it safe, I just like having fun, like most of us can admit. When I see its dangerous, with people around, I don't shoot for it, when its open, I let it loose. I know whats up.
I just helped a friend install a Volant and AeroChamber muffler on his 06 Titan. I also got to drive the Titan before and after the mods. I was impressed with the Titan's Power. His stock king cab Titan would no doubt beat my stock Crew Cab Silverado 1500 with 5.3L. With his above listed mods and my current mods (Volant, AeroChamber, TB Bypass and Programmer) he Can't beat my Crew Cab and I'm heavier. I found take offs and shifts to be a problem in the Titan, Shift are slow and take off seems a little sluggish. Felt just like my Silverado did before removing Torque Management. I did like the 5 speed trans, the close ratio gears in the trans is a major plus. I have 3 friends that own Titans one of which is a member of this board "heavysled." When I bought my truck in Feb of 05 I considered the Titan but decided not to buy it because the performance aftermarket wasn't there yet.
Currently I have a Yank 2600 Converter and Under Drive pulleys waiting to get installed. I'm not going to do the Converter Install until I get my Headers (have to take down Y-Pipe to pull trans). My plan is to see how fast I can get my little 5.3L to go in the 1/4 mile in this big ole crew cab without doing internal motor work and keeping its current drivability. Then it's gonna get either forced induction or nitrous. Goal is mid/low 14sec on motor and mid/low 13sec on power adder. The converter alone is good for .3 to .4 sec in the 1/4 mile according to the manufacturer’s website. Also claims for headers are good for 25 - 30 RWHP and Under Drive pulleys 7 - 10 rwhp.
Point of all of this is....yes Silverado Ext and Crew Cabs with 5.3L stock are slow. Just don't think this about all of them because as said here before they respond very well to mods.
You said the start felt a little sluggish in the titan. well you should ask you friend to do the ECU reset. It is well known that the truck will "bog down" with mod if the ECU reset is not dont. I wasnt aware that a programmer was out for the Titan.

Is the ECU reset done by disconnecting the battery for say 10 minutes or is there something else that needs to be done? I didn't say anything about a programmer for a Titan and I wasn't aware there is one. Did someone else post this and I missed it? It sure would be nice if they did have one.
No, the Ecu reset instruction can be found on the "how to" section of the forum. I must've misread about the programmer. Anyways i think you're one of the very few level headed people on the forum who dont drive titans. Glad to have you aboard.
