Civic Sedan vs. Titan?????!!!

Well, it started as a one lane road and no one else on it but me, but I noticed two head lights pop up from the hill behind me and coming up quick. TO give you a clue how fast I was going....45. I was tired and trying to stretch my quater tank until tomorrow. But anyways, the thing tail gating me was a lifted truck...couldn't tell what it was but it look like a Chevy DeeZ. But behind it was a frisky little car...that I couldn't tell until right next to me. I noticed the lane was about to turn into a two lane road and the Civic started taking the excess emergency lane and tried to pass the truck and me. The truck ended up leaving turning left but the civic kept pressing on. I decided...maybe alittle fun won't hurt So I 3/4 the gas giving a good gain ahead. But then we got to a light before it turned back to green, we were going again and saw the Civic was a sedan. Okay, I was kind of pissed that this guy wouldn't let off so I cool it and just tailed him about 3 car lengths and noticed it was a regular civic...the ugly 2003 kinds. Whats up with that? I have to admit, the car was quick enough to stick neck to neck when punching at a roll. You guyz experience anything like that? Let me know whats up and calm me down cuz I wanna go and tow the civic to the junk yard.

When I was with the Boxster I was already rolling at nearly 65-70 mph. With the civic I was moving about only 50-60. Another thing is the race against the boxster was uphill, I'd say about a 6% incline. The civic and I were going on leveled ground. So I still don't know whats up.

Re: Civic Sedan vs. Titan?????!!!

I had a civic pull on me once, it was one of those Civic EX that had the stronger motor than the regular civics and I was in my Wife's Toyota Camary with a load of groceries in the trunk.

Isn't it weird how some people are intelligent enough to realize this, but cannot do anything about it?

Re: Civic Sedan vs. Titan?????!!!

It's all about weight to HP ratio.People get the wrong impression when they get into a car/truck that is a bit torqueee. They think it's got balls and can move.I've been in a 13 civic and there was no toque feel but the speedometor tells a different story. My project this year is a 13 second all motor civic.Bone stock.

Good point, it's how many pounds per horsepower or ftlb of torque you have to drag around.
My Camaro weighs 3160lbs with me in it and runs 10.80, which works out to 580hp, which in turn works out to around 5.45 pounds per hp.
My Roadrunner weighs 3700lbs and runs 11.5, which works out to just over 560hp, a 6.57 pound per hp ratio.
that is the reason the Camaro out-runs the Roadrunner in the quarter mile, even though they are relatively close as far as output.
The thing that tcf_dk didn't mention is that it's all torque, just in different RPM ranges. Horsepower is just a calculation that we come up with from using something measurable, like torque.
From this we have the formula HP=TQxRPM/5252. Every Dyno sheet is based on this formula. You can see this from the Torque and RPM lines crossing at 5252 rpm.
But I digress, so in summary it is always helpful to know not just the HP but also the weight of the vehicle. Gearing and traction are other important factors as well.

Re: Civic Sedan vs. Titan?????!!!

On the way to Vegas this weekend, I came up on a newer civic cruising at least 100mph, weaving in and out of traffic. I couldn’t believe how fast this little car was, I was getting a little freaked out trying to keep up. I could tell he knew I was pacing him, so finally when I thought it was safe, I floored the Titan from about 90MPH and passed him hitting the rev limiter for the first time at 115. It was hard to tell if he tried to keep up, but I left him in the dust, finally slowing down and thinking I’m not going to try that again, but had to show the little Civic some real power. I have to gives props to the little Honda, much faster than I expected.

I use to like import compacts but I have a selected "likes." But the newer civic si has one of the most worshiped engines in the import scene. The K block engines. Stock, they are already shooting out about 200hp on the fly , and the car runs 0-60s under 7 secs. Weird though...you get hit in one of those...your dead, thats why I don't favor them too much.
