War StoriesThis section is for discussion of any races you may have particpated in. If you smoked someone like a pack'o'cools, let us know. Likewise, if you got beat... let us know by what, so we can keep an eye out for it next time.
Here are a couple kills I made recently. I know the older Dodges aren't much competition but most newer Dodges I see are Diesels.
Going out to eat with my family on a Sat. night this 4x4 Dodge KC pulls along side me at a red light with his loud exhaust. I look over at him and he has his woman sitting next to him. The light changes and I give it 1/4 throttle to see what he does. He gets into it from the sound of his exhaust. We are side by side when I nail it. By the time I got to 60MPH he was more than 3 truck lenths behind. Best part about it was him getting beat with his woman right next to him.
Then a week later I am in Modesto, CA with my boys and 3 dirtbikes and gear in the back. I am kinda lost looking for the way to waterford. I am at this light with a squeeze lane. The light changes and I start going. This loud Red Dodge KC 4x4 thinks he is going to fly by on a roll and cut me off. I am at his back bumper when I nail it. By the time I got up to 50mph he was 2 truck lenths back.
I know these weren't Hemi's but I don't get into many races. I don't really look for races but these 2 asked for it and got it handed to them.
So at least some Dodge boys got educated by a Titan.
The 5.2 and 5.9L engines were rated at
230 and 245hp respectively. Don't worry
about them. I am the one you need to
worry about!! Just having some fun. They
are both good dependable engine's that just
lack both HP and torque.

I like to have fun too. We all know the HEMI barely makes 300hp.
I would like to race you but you know what Nissan doesn't even make a SC SB.
Isn't that like a 2wd Titan wanting to race a 4wd 3/4 ton crewcab longbox.
If there was ever a case of apples to oranges this is it. IMHO
I really don't think my truck is very fast. I was just amused how badly I whomped him hauling 3 bikes and gear when he had the head start.

Well, if your basing weight as the reason you think
it's a, "apples to oranges" issue your point would
be flawed. The Titan KC 4X4 is rated at 4958 lbs.
The 4X2's are in the 4650-4750 lb range. My curb
weight (full tank of fuel and a hard tonneau bed cover)
is 4950 lbs. Weight is not an issue between a RCSB
Hemi Ram and a 4X2 Titan KC.
Are trucks have a high drivetrain loss. Apx. 22 to 23%
loss. I dyno'd 266 rwhp. So what does that give me
at the crank? You do the math.

I do think that the 5.7L Hemi is slightly over rated
at 345hp. It's probably more likely between 330
and 340hp. Barely making 300hp.......I don't think
so!!

wait wait dont the Titans produce like somewhere around 260 at the wheels? If so, that means that our 5.6 endurance with a puny 305hp produces about the same numbers as the hick hemi. WHICH is ADVERTISED AT 345HP!! HAHAHAH, i think you're car has more driveline loss in that case.

That could be but I have a question. I notice all
of the Titan dyno's posted on this site and something
seems kind of odd to me. I see guys claming numbers
like 280/340, 286/357. Or higher!! But yet even with
those great numbers MOST still can't get into the 14's.
Guys who show (KC's included) lower dyno numbers (say
270/330) post 1/4 times as high as 15.3's. Why is
this??? My truck dyno'd 266/292 with Superchips programmer
set at 91 octane tuning. Also, with all the mods I list in
my sig. That means bone stock my dyno numbers were
a little less ( the Superchips has been a let down as far
as HP and TRQ go) than 266/292. Yet, a 15.1 is fairly
easy for my truck stock. So here is the question. Why
can't Titan's with these super high dyno numbers do
any better than a 14.9 to 15.0??? Some of these KC guys
are showing 25 more HP and 60 ft/lbs of torque more than
me. But can only muster a 15.0 to 15.3 on average. Why??

Quit confusing these guys with the facts. Alot of these folks don't care about power to weight ratio, they just want the truck to be faster than the next guy. Nissan just follows the old formula of making it as light as you can to do the job so that it will also be quick. I personally like that mentality since it is race oriented and helps with the longevity of the wear items like brakes, tires and such.
You have to hand it to Nissan, they've always been sort of the hot rod division of the Japanese auto makers. Toyota makes excellent race vehicles, but they rarely give the general public a vehicle with power, the Supra was one of the exceptions, and in the last 15 years or so Mitsubishi and subaru have stepped up quite a bit.
The Hemi is a great design, and has evolved into what it is today. But most decent heads now use canted valve angles and semi-hemispherical chambers so they are just as good as the hemi, some even better.
The greatest test someone could do would be to have the two truck race and have them weigh the same and have the same rear end gear and tires.

I traded a 95 Dodge with the 5.9 for the Titan, and I can say the Titan is much faster. Despite the large engine in the Dodge it only made 245HP, although like the Titan it would cruise at 85 MPH without even breaking a sweat.
what makes the Titan faster is the 4 valve heads it really makes a differance I have raced my brother in his Hemi ram and I get him every time.

Theres a lot of things you need to factor into the equation, not just power. We've already seen that the Armada can run well into the 14's in the quater mile. You can even dig up Scr38's old times or Armada's and theres even a video. I dunno what your talking about but there are a lot of Titans running mid 14's in the quarter.
Well, if your basing weight as the reason you think

Well my KC 4x4 weighed in a whopping 5700 lbs. with me in it. Thats 742 lbs over your rating for that truck. I can consistantly pull 15.3's in the 1/4 mile with all factors included. My best (questionable though it may be) time was a 14.82 at 333 lbs torque under very favorable conditions. I know that these are G-tech times but they are as close as you are going to get with all factors calculated into the run, ie; wind, road conditions etc. If I minus the 300 lb tool box and the tail gate, I would be willing to say I could be around a consistant 15

Those weren't my numbers. They were KBB numbers.
They get their numbers from the manufacture. This
from Nissans website.
So if you want to argue with weights that I post then take
it up with KBB and Nissan. All I can say is this. When my
truck was stock and if I had 30 more hp and 60 ft/lbs
14.6's would probably be the norm. Throw in the
Superchips programmer and high 13.9's would be possible.
All I saying is weight, claimed hp and trq don't seem to
fit track times for the Titan. Except The Head's posted
dyno and track numbers.
