My boss a work has a bone stock 02 GMC extended cab Z71 with the 5.3L in it. Since Ive been around GM"s all my life I know about the truck. Anyways he wants to race my truck with his for $100 from a dead stop. Now seat of the pants I know Im faster. My question is I shouldnt have anything to be worried about right?
Do it, no prob. as long as he is stock. Besides if you do loose markisalive78 will pay ya back wont ya Mark?

Well from what I know I shouldnt loose but still kinda wondering about it. So I dont put it into overdrive? He said he wants to run I think to when his truck cuts off. And woudl lower rear air pressure really help?
Best advice I can give u Is lower rear psi @ 26-28 psi (cold)-this will help u avoid spinning off the line while still using all your bottom end balls, second reset you're ecu- and third drive it like u stole it- this will help keep the ecu running strong, after some driving the ecu will adjust to your typical stop and go driving will this will hurt you in a race...All this should easily put u in victory lane against that z71..keep it safe and keep us informed....Remember turn off the vdc control if equipped...
I'd tell him you'll race to about 80 mph. If he can't catch you, or you him, by then, screw it. As for lowering the rear tires, it would help. But if I were you, I'd practice launghing the Titan a few times before hand so that you can figure out the best way to get it moving with sitting and spinning.
I raced an older F-150 the other day and layed rubber further than I ever have, or thought possible. Didn't matter in the long run, but it woulda been nice to know before hand the truck was gonna laungh like that.
The other thing, I use 3rd gear on take-offs. Don't know if it really makes a difference, although it seems to get off the line quicker...??
I'd skip the bet, because if you win, you'll win more in bragging rights and extra lunch break time than that $100.00 bucks is worth!!

I'm a Chevy guy and I'm fairly sure the Titan would take a Stock 02 Ext Cab Z71. With Stock being the Key work. The best my 2000 2wd Ext Cab Silverado would do is 15.30 @ 89.9mph. That was with a Hypertech Programmer, K&N FIPK, and Flowmaster. The extra weight on a z71 would slow him down at least a couple tenths from that. Now would I bet money on it.....not a chance. This truck could appear totally stock yet have mods done to it that you can't see. For instance, he could have an aftermarket Torque Converter. A yank TT3000 would increase his 1/4 mile times by .5 second. He could have a custom tune, gears changed out, internal motor work, or I've seen some very sneaky people with very well hidden nitrous. I don't trust anyone when it comes down to racing because I've been around it to long and have seen to many people loose money on what seemed to be a sure thing. I'd run him for bragging rights, cold beer, or a burger.
Sorry for the long post but here is a little story:
Me and a buddy are at the local drag strip running his T/A. He made 2 motor passes then some a$$hole in a Cobra walks up talking sh!t about the T/A and wants to run for $500. We didn't have $50 between the two of us. This other guy we know said I got the money to spot for you, Go kick his a$$. Well the guys walks back to his car laughing. We warmed the nitrous bottle and lowered tire pressure. They lined up and cut a light on him, then ran away from him in the 1/4. The T/A went 9.83 to his 10.6x in the 1/4. The dude was super pissed saying we hussled him and called us every name in the book. He thought he had a sure thing because he only saw the T/A run some low 11 second 1/4s and didn't bother to find out if the 11 second 1/4s were on motor or nitrous. Security ended up kicking him out the track and we never got the money.
well this guy is almost 60 ya thats right 60 and acts like hes 20 I dont think he would lie about it and plus I drove it the other day and it felt stock. He just hates Japs cars but he also owns a tacoma go figure!
1: Take money from a friend.
2: Piss off my boss when I'm happy where I work at.
3: (combination of the two) Piss off my boss whom is also a friend by taking his money.
Race for a beer, bragging rights, supper etc , but dont take his cash.
Save that for someone you dont like.
