whats up with chevy

man i have raced just about ever truck from ford to dodge to the lincoln blackwood to chevy. I have got to say though chevy have lots of potential i mean damn i love my titan but pulling up next to a single cab chevy with the 4.8 vortec v8 and watching him smoke me its crazy. but that chevy had exaust intake headers and was programmed. all i can say is watch out everyone once we can start programming our mods into our trucks and getting the full potensial out the 5.6 ya we will be some thing to rekin with. but till then ill be getting my heads pulled off in the next week or to and get them fully ported and polished and on that ill report back on that in the next few weeks once its done in the performance section.

Yeah I guess if you throw enough money at it just about anything can be fast.

He was running a custom program. Probably
gaining a solid 20 to 25 HP. The later models
sport a 4.8L and run 285Hp stock.
Then you have to factor in the lighter weight
of GM trucks. He probably has a curb weight
of apx 4300lbs. It's all about weight to HP
ratio's. And gearing. He also was probably dropped
and had light weight 17's on his truck.

Re: whats up with chevy

Man I am sorry, but there must be something wrong with your titan. My friend has a 4.8 with the 5 speed regular cab, programmer, headers, and alot more and I beat him with my 4X4 CC with just a intake. I had him by about 2 truck lenghts.

Re: whats up with chevy

how are u goin to start running ur mouths c my friends dad runs his own shop and has his hands in just about any thing that deals with cars. He said i can bring my truck to his shop in the next week and with his help I willpull the heads off and he will c if there is eny extra work he can do on the titans heads but what ever once i have done if it is possible i will just keep it to my self. but ya the chevy was fast as hell i know for a fact he has a programmer caz on the way back home we ran down 45 and from a 65 punch i took him till govoner then he flew past me like i was standing still. with me im still ahven a problem off the line. im not use to the single spin rear end and ussuly break loose off then line but what ever that chevy had it was fast very fast.

Re: whats up with chevy

they showed a special edition on Trucks! of the Silverado Reg. Cab/ short bed w/ the 4.8L V-8... I think it was like a Joe Gibbs model but that thing was s/charged and hauled a$$. It was like ten-thousand less than the Silv. SS and I'm pretty sure was faster in the 1/4. I've seen at least two of those in my area and the price is not crazy... you could have been racing one of them.

Re: whats up with chevy

aaron,

I don't think the problem would be in the heads, although it probably wouldn't hurt.

There's other things you can try; headers, exhaust, CAI or SC!!!

The bigger issue is the ECU.
