For All You Stock Hemi Owners!!! And For All Proud Titan Owners!
I think Truck Trend plays favorites because they are the only ones that posted a Hemi 0-60 at 7.6 compared to many other good magazines and web sites that don't sell their awards to the highest bidder. READ THE WHOLE COMPARISON AT EDMUNDS. The link bellow is the preformance and spec page...but this whole test shows that a TITAN is a good truck.
Re: For All You Stock Hemi Owners!!! And For All Proud Titan Owners!
That's pretty awesome, like we needed further proof. But it seems you've delivered the pudding, thanks Brace.
The 2004 Nissan Titan didn't just win this test, it ran away with it. Such a result might seem like an improbable upset, but the numbers speak for themselves. It cleaned up at the test track, had the second lowest sticker price, offered the most desirable features and was every editor's number-one recommended pick. This wasn't the case of an upstart contender putting together a few key assets to slip into first place. No, this was the story of a truck that was built to beat the domestics at their own game and succeeded.
To see how the Nissan Titan pulled off the win, look no further than its performance at the test track. Truck owners love to talk numbers and the truck turned in top results in nearly every category. Its 0-to-60-mph time of 7.7 seconds was a full half second ahead of the second-place Dodge Ram, and when it was loaded down with a 6,000-pound trailer and three passengers, it extended its lead over the Ram to nearly three seconds (16.8 vs. 19.5). Test notes revealed that the Nissan Titan got off the line faster than every other truck in the test, unloaded or not, and maintained a strong, virtually uninterrupted pull thanks to seamless shifts from its five-speed gearbox.
Speed against the clock is one thing, but real-world performance is another, and the Nissan didn't disappoint there, either. With the trailer hooked up and the same full load of passengers on board, it powered its way up a 7 percent grade faster than every other truck except the Dodge (the Ram managed a slightly higher top speed up the same pass). When there isn't three tons of trailer slowing it down, the Nissan Titan literally tears around city streets with a level of speed and sound matched only by the Ram's equally powerful Hemi engine. One editor summed up the Titan's burly character with this simple observation: "After years of driving trucks designed to feel like cars, the Titan reminds you of what a real truck is supposed to feel like."
The Titan proved to be equally adept where there were no streets, as it was generally regarded as the most capable truck in the dirt as well. Not only did its heavy-duty shocks and oversized tires do a great job of keeping the big truck on track, but it also showed more subtle capabilities like manual gear selection for the automatic transmission and ultralow transfer case gears that slowed it to a crawl even on the steepest descents. Our early-production truck didn't have it, but the Titan will also add a push-button rear differential locker to its off-road repertoire later in the model year. Four-wheel enthusiasts should also note that while Nissan offers its off-road package on all trim levels of the Titan, both Dodge and Ford force you into the higher-line crew cab models before it's even an option.
Re: For All You Stock Hemi Owners!!! And For All Proud Titan Owners!
You should work for Edmunds TitanFan! As for the article, yes it is older but the changes in the trucks prove to be subtle. Theres only a small difference in changes for 2006, Dodge Hemi recieved the DOD(Displacment On Demand) and the Titans recived new badging and of course...brake fixes and other problems from earlier models. Ford...well, not to sure about them but the Chevy's just got a face lift and added a new line of truck...The SilveradoMAX. I think it has the LS1 engine is generating 350hp at the crank. No stats on it yet. Bading shows a fat old MAX on the side, saw one on the freeway yesterday, guy didn't want to race cuz he was still breaking it in...wise choice. Otherwise, the article is probably the most detailed test I've ever seen out of any company putting 1/2 ton comparisons out there and the most honest too. No favorites here, just the honest truth!

350 hp.Sounds like the major selling point for the Titan is going to need a upgrade and quick,Im probably not the only one who bought a Titan because of hearing about how quick it was,It sounds like they are fixing to give up their spot.Come on nissan dont let them push you around like that.
Re: For All You Stock Hemi Owners!!! And For All Proud Titan Owners!
Edmunds advertising has to have an effect on those reviews (not saying the Titan doesn't deserve it). The entire point of that website and ANY website, just like ANY TV show, is to get you to look long enough to also see the ads. Thats it.
i Heard all those sources get handmade cars, made especially for their testing (so no quality issues).
Consumer Reports gets vehicles for their tests just like any customer, at regular dealers.
But hell, where'd I learn that? From Consumer Reports. Can't trust anyone...
Re: For All You Stock Hemi Owners!!! And For All Proud Titan Owners!
Hey Titanfan, whats a Chinchilla? I ain't gonna hump one but I couldn't figure out what it is. But anyways, edmunds buys their vehicles just like consumer reports. They don't get special made orders just for them without any defects. The big honchos like Motor Trend, Truck Trend, Car and Driver, etc. have more advertising and suscribing in the market compared that web sites are a fraction of the advertiing market. THe magazines are the ones that the dealers look at and make sure they get the PERFECT vehicle to ge the BEST REVIEW. But I understand about consumer reports, thats a very good review web site also.

According to their test equipment, yes. Conditions could of been different or the truck wasn't broken in yet. But the 0-60 is pretty much in range of what most reviews say. I like the RAMs numbers 0-60 in 8.3. Thats in range of most reviews also! Whats even better is how the HEMI gets even SLOWER when strapped with a 3 ton trailer and 3 full grown adults. Thats a real life application thats really useful.

Like I have said before the Hemi is a car motor. The Titan has a truck motor. I bet I could whoop an older Ford V-10 0-60 with me pulling 2500lbs. My brother in-law has one.
If the 5.6 was tuned like a car motor it would make 375 plus HP. I don't understand why these Hemi owners didn't just buy a Magnum. They don't haul or tow anything. I guess they are wannabe truck owners. Not to many Hemi owners up here in OR. Mainly a lot of Diesels. I am sure I will find one.
Let the Flaming begin LMAO at internet Hemi owners who visit the Titan site.
Re: For All You Stock Hemi Owners!!! And For All Proud Titan Owners!
I'm a new Titan owner and I bought exactly what I wanted so don't flame me for liking the Rams but the numbers don't make much sense. I can completely understand the towing, because I know for a fact that the Hemi's can't tow for s**t. A buddy of mine has one and helped me move. It struggled really hard pulling a trailer and about imploded his gas tank like a beer can in the process because it had no power at low RPMs. He even got out his hypertech tuner first and optimized it for towing. That trailer wasn't anything compared to a boat or travel trailer.
What I don't understand are the unloaded times. From the numbers the Ram should be slightly faster than the Titan. It has 35 more HP, only 3 lb less torque and is a couple hundred pounds lighter. Maybe the difference is where the engines make their power? Like someone said earlier, the Hemi's are a car engine and develop their power at higher RPMs and the Titan engines are truck engines and develop a lot of power at lower RPMs and continue to do so throughout the RPM range (at least according to the guy who sold me mine).
Anyone with a stock Titan ever raced a stock Hemi? And I'm talking about a true race where you know the other guy is giving it his all, not just screwing with you.

5 speed transmission. There's why your numbers don't add up.
