chevy VortecMax V8

just want to know has anyone taken on the chevy vortecmax w/345 hp & 380 in the torque dept. or the new silverado ss 4x2 ? chevy guys in my area seem to mess with me the most then the dodge boys w/hemi. the ford guys dont bother me too much unless its the harly, they really like to play. dont see enough srt10 rams or lighting to worry about them and i wouldnt even think of trying them anyway.

Re: chevy VortecMax V8

What mods do you have? It's going to come down to the hole shot if you have CAI, exhaust and timing advance I would think.

Re: chevy VortecMax V8

Heard they run high 14's. Thats what one TITAN owner said when he saw one at the track in Pamona Cali. The guy was in street gear, nothing removed and all stock. I don't mess around with Harley's or Lightnings, main reason.....they are supercharged. Raced a F-150..older version, that was supercharged but I was slowly gaining on him, I figured after seeing his boost gauge and how long it took me to start gaining a lead. Anyways, I'm more concerned about the new Escalade.....o-60 in 6.4? Hmmm. 400hp, 400lb tq. Hmmm....Sounds interesting. Smoking a $60,000 SUV would be more exciting than beating a Hemi Ram. Thats because I would be hurting a yuppy ego.

Re: chevy VortecMax V8

I had my chance againist one of them (VMax) but it wasn't from a stand still. We were going about 15-20 and he had about a hood length lead and it pretty much stayed like that. Only able to get up to about 60 because of the light coming up and then ended up in traffic.

BTW, I have stock airbox mod and exhaust and he looked and sounded stock.

The 06 SS 4X2 only weighs in the 4680 lb range.
That is a great hp/weight ratio.
