Hey again. wasnt sure where to psot this but I have heard that dodge is sticking an Srt-8 into the ram when they kill production this year of the srt-10.
yea i heard that too. but i think they're only putting the 6.1 in the heavy duty trucks, (2500 and 3500) and i think they'll be detuned to decrease HP and increase torque. now we just need news of them putting one in the reg. cab 1500's.

The srt-8 sounds like it'll be a hell of a combination with a Ram. If it's anything like the srt-8 Grand Cherokee, it'll be quick.
6.1-liter, 16-valve, Hemi V8 with a cast iron block and aluminum heads that generates a healthy 420 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm. The EPA suggests that drivers of this muscular Grand Cherokee will see 12 mpg in the city and 15 mpg on the highway

Yep twin turbo with a DOHC V-8 would be sweet. I would like to see them take advantage of the DOHC set up. Actually I don't think that much of us would even care if they stick the 6.1 into a Ram, the SRT-10 will still be king performance wise.
Agreed. Heck, buy a KC XE spend 7K for an SC and exhaust and you are still under 30K. Can't beat that. Oh yeah and it can still tow and haul stuff in the bed.

well i honestly think that if they make a real srt-8 ram and put it in the 1500 that they will discontinue the srt-10. i think i've heard that this year or the next will be the last of production.

Doesn't bother me a bit.
It's an analogy similar to someone being miserable because the DVD is better than their VHS and then the HD Recorder turned better than the DVD.
Technology changes constantly and are incorporated into new improved cars/engines/products from year to year. It is almost incomprehensible to compare two vehicles from different model years and and expect a fair comparison. When my Titan feels obsolete like the 8-track player, the it will be time to trade in for the better/newer product.
And until then, I enjoy comparing/racing my 04 Titan to all other O4 full size pickup-trucks. Then again, maybe Nissan will come up with something better than the SRT-8.

Ditto, I was gonna say that too. Ditto on the de-tune of the Hp on your 6.1 also. I think they are trying to substitute the 5.7 Hemi cuz for the 6.1 hemi because the regular 5.7 isn't much of a towing engine. Maybe thats the reason why you will only find it in the 2500 and 3500 models?

Does anybody remember way, way back in the mid 90's when Chevrolet was putting the LT-1 in Corvettes, Cameros, Impallas and whatever else????...The big rumor amongst all the truck junkies was that GM was gonna put a LT-1 into a shortbed regular cab pick-up and the result would be so earth shattering that all of GM's competitors would immediatly close their factories and lay off all their employees......well, it never happened. So, what I'm gonna say about the subject of whatever motor is offered in whatever manufactorer's truck is.....I hope it works out for you.
