My buddies Hemi dies

Ok, so after spanking my buddies hemi quad cab last week, I took the higher road and didn't rub it in.
We went out friday and drove seperately. It was pouring rain here, as we were in the middle of a nor' easter. So we leave a bar in Dewey beach heading to another, me by myelf and he with his g/f. We turn onto a back street that has been flooded. Well, I decide to go ahead first. What didn't appear to be too deep at first turns out to be about 2 and 1/2 feet deep. So i get through it and he is following me. Once we are out i keep going but i see his headlights are on but he is staying put. I call him on his phone and ask "whats going on?"

He replies, "my truck is dead."

So i swing back around and lo and behold, it won't crank. It would make a clicking noise but wouldn't turn over. I guess his belts running to his alternator must have gotten wet. His lights still worked, but the engine was dead. So, he and his g/f pile into my truck. I looked at him and said flatley, "you really need a titan man"

that was bad. i was wondering if that was gonna screw my truck up? mine is still running fine, but i'm gonna get under there and check things out tonight.

His truck made it into a few inches of water before she croaked. we pushed it off to the side of the road and left it til we left the bar. When we got back, his truck cranked up an was good to go. so far so good

Re: My buddies Hemi dies

question to all of you serious off roaders.

any chance i could have done any damage?? everything seems fine. My buddy said he saw the water up to my rear exhaust and that it was smoking a little, but that coulda just been steam

Re: My buddies Hemi dies

this is very odd because my brothers Ram 1500 Hemi Quad Cab drove into water and it was over the hood and we just kept on driving. He lives in Atlanta so I have yet to race him but there is always time for that.

Unless he has a snorkel, that has the potential to be very bad. The intake will suck in water like it sucks in air and once it makes it to the engine, hellooo hydro-lock and new engine.

As long as the truck is running the exhaust can be submerged, The intake and plugs are all you have to worry about.

Re: My buddies Hemi dies

I'd check the oil in diffs and transmission. the vents were under water if it was 2 1/2 ft. if anything looks milky change it. look at your rear axle the vent is on the tube 1 ft off ground. that's why offroaders extend the vent lines to top of firewall. transmission, transfer case and both diffs. water and oil don't mix. big buck repair if not taken care of!
