Maxima Kill

I read here how the Maxima's would walk from a stock Titan, well one didn't walk today. Here is what happened.

Coming down a two lane HWY poking at 45mph behind a dump truck I am waiting to pass. I have a Black Nissan car either a Maxima or Altima behind me (sorry don't know them that well) and a Harley behind the car. Just before the 1/2 mile passing lane opens up I see the Harley jump out and I throw on the turn signal and so does the car. As soon as the Harley passes I pull out with the car on my a$$. We pass the dump truck, the bike pulls in I am to busy watching for on coming traffic so I am not looking at the car. We pass the bike, I look in my mirror to make sure I am clear and the car was at least 2 car links back. I slide over and keep it floored and now I am watching. I get 4-5 car links ahead and now I am doing just a tad over 100mph and I let off. he catches up and gets right on my a$$ again, flashes his lights, takes both hands off the wheel and gives me two big thumbs up. No doubt I spanked that car to 100mph. I thought to myself that had to be a 4cyl Altima. At my turn off he passed me with a honk and I seen it was a Maxima 3.5. Not sure of the year but it looked brand new.

Re: Maxima Kill

I'm not doubting you spanked it, but I'm thinking it was a driver without big balls in the Maxima. I have a Maxima and a 06 LE CC and no way it beats my Maxima, at any stage.
Of course you have a KC, so that may indeed make a difference, and I have a feeling you are not afraid to give it all it's got.

Re: Maxima Kill

sounds like it was the driver to me, the maxima is a serious player and its a car you dont want to mess with. nissan are masters at building a strong V6 and the max can hold its own with many V8s out there especially the new one.

Re: Maxima Kill

You may have beaten the driver or jumped before him. You actually don't think a Titan stands a chance in a real race with a 3.5l Maxima. I've had an 03 max and have an 04 Titan and trust me....anything can happen in a street race but with equal drivers you will lose EVERY time. And it will get worse with higher speeds. Face it, you got lucky.

Re: Maxima Kill

so are you trying to say you beat a 3.5L Maxima by 4-5 car lengths?!?! There's no way if the Maxima was trying. Those cars will beat the Titan anyday.

Uness you got a frekishly fast truck, theres no way the titan can take a maxima. Those are mid 14 second cars...

Re: Maxima Kill

I had my shares for my kills with the 3.5's in both Altima's and Maximas....they are the same engine that the Z has but just tuned differently. Trust me...they are fast...but not that fast. No offense to those who traded their Titan for one...this is more proof that my kills are confirmed.

Re: Maxima Kill

I had my Titan in the shop last week. The dealer loaned me a 2007 Maxima. This car hauled some seious a**! I raced a Mustang GT probably a 1998 model and smoked it. We started at a stop light, he reved up the stang and I reved up the maxima wondering if I had a prayer, I thought he might get me off the line but that was not the case. I looked in the side mirror and noticed the Mustang about a car and a half behind me. We raced again from a 30 mile per hour punch and again I left him behind. The Maxima I was driving had a 6 speed autostick transmission. I was shocked as hell that I was able to spank the stang. I dont know what year Maxima you pulled away from but it wasnt an 07. By all means if you guys get a chance to drive a new Maxima do it.

06 CC Popular Pack.

Re: Maxima Kill

Straight line, automatic tranny, foot to the floor, all ready rolling, TQ of the truck took over, I am an awesome driver Who knows, I for one am not a race car driver and I don't go looking for people to race and I do know he obviously thought he gave it all he had. All I know is that 100mph he was not on my a$$ and when I let off he was on my a$$ super fast. Any way you look at it a 3.5L Maxima didn't smoke me.

Re: Maxima Kill

I think one thing we can probably all agree on is that Nissan knows how to make an engine.

The Maxima has always had one of the best, if not THE best 6 cylinder out there. We have had a 95, 02, and 05 Maxima, and they are all top notch. The teenager wrecked the 95 with over 250k on the engine, and it was running super strong at the time ...we gave it away to a buddy of his with no money and lot's of time, he did some body work, and it's still going now with over 300k. The 02 is still ours with 181k and still runs sweet, nothing ever spent on it but the normal upkeep. The 05 really is not much different except in body styling...can't wait 'till the wife is ready for the 08!!

Obviously, the Titan motor rocks. I had an 05 Tundra before this Titan, and while the engine in it was super smooth and super reliable, it just did not have the ponies to do some serious truck work. However, the Toyota was a pooch in the CC configuration, but I was given a loaner extended cab with the same motor and it was night and day different...that smaller truck with the same engine was like a rocket. I am thinking that a Titan in the KC configuration might be significantly faster than my CC.

Of course, I have always been one to kind of downplay this whole racing thing with a truck...I bought mine for many reasons, including it's power, but not to use as a sportscar...that's why we have the Maxima's.

It is kind of nice to make the ford driver pretend I didn't just pull up next to him and rev the motor though!

Re: Maxima Kill

Umm,
You didn't really spank a 3.5 Altima with a Titan. The Altima driver was just pleased to see another driver get down with the throttle and take care of business.
I own a 3.5 and it has a very sweet spot between 65 and 125 mph.
Those Ford 6.0 TD's hate it. So do chubby wives trying to cross the Arizona desert in suburbans at 90 mph.

LOL! I have to disagree with one point...that sweet spot is between 1 and 125mph.

It's always fun to just roast someone who thinks my sedan is just a soccer moms pooch. Of course, I really don't like it when it comes time to buy tires for the SE's...might as well be buying corvette tires for what the dern things cost.

Re: Maxima Kill

Yep Krodad,
I'm ready for new skins at 25000 miles.
Did you know that if you switch off the traction control you can get a hell of a niced FWD burnout out of the car?

Re: Maxima Kill

the teenager figured out burnouts the first day he was handed the keys to the 95.

He got to pay for the tires a few months later.

Thanks for the reminder I need to get new tires for my wifes 04 max. I'll give u credit for the kill but I know the is very fast and I am only allowed to drive it on rare occassions. I think its because I have a rare disease call "LEAD FOOTITESE". Not really sure how to spell it but I did find a crappy cure for it called "CHP" cost was around $300.
