It is a very nice setup. The 5 spd auto and the handling of a smaller truck make this a joy to drive. I still think that body style is one of the sharpest looking trucks around (not the new square ones). My last truck was a '97 dakota 4 spd auto with a 5.2 and posi. I had a lot of fun with that truck and it took a beating I tell ya

Anway, I drove his truck before I bought the Titan. After I got the Titan, I thought he might take me, (I thought he'd PROBABLY take me )

We've raced twice this past year and I overtook him both times. He had the jump both times. It should be a great truck to mod, but stock to stock, the Titan will prevail no contest.

The Dakota pulls a lot of hot rodders in. I'd really like to be provoked into a little challenge by one, I'm patiently waiting until then
Have to agree. I like the look of the II Gen Dakotas.
I would love to have one and build it up. Their really
are not that many bolt on mods for the 4.7 though.
I would rather have a RCSB R/T, pull the engine, and
drop in a 408 Stroker in it. That would be sweet.

Re: Titan versus V8 Dodge Dakota

hemi4me.... that is an aftermarket hood... R/T's only exterior destinguising features are monochromatic bumpers, a factory 1'' drop all around and 17 inch wheels. notice the traction bars on the truck you copy and pasted... lol your research blows...

if its doin the one tire fire... its not a 360.. unless its a QC it may be. other than the quad cabs, all dakotas with 360's are R/T's... they come stock with 3.92's and a LSD.

with 345 ft lbs of torq around 3k rpm in a midsize truck... if he wasnt moving it was because the back tires were roasting

Yeah, I thought that hood did not look stock. I thought
the R/T's also had some slight fender flaring due to
the wider tires.

Re: Titan versus V8 Dodge Dakota

Good kill!!

I raced a Dodge Dakota R/T w/ the 5.9. And before we raced, and I put a whoppin' on him, all I heard about was how it pulled hard off the line.
Well, the guy must've been worried about losing, cuz' he was in it hard off the line and all he did was spin for about 15 feet.

So we tried again, and although he got in front, I reeled him in. I wasn't impressed one bit. His friend, who owned a 2005 stock Titan w/ BT pkg. put up a much better race than he did.

Re: Titan versus V8 Dodge Dakota

.600 lift mopar perf. twin springs (to help out with that low revving problem)
ported/polished heads with a 3 angle valve job,
cam
tri y headers
dual 2.5'' exhaust
53mm throttle body
accel cap/8.5mm wires/rotor
functional ram air hood (i cant paint... so its not on yet lol)
trans-go shift kit (im to big of a coward to put this in lol, its riding in my passanger seat)
set of drag radials

... next season i have a intake manifold, 3k rpm stall, and finally getting that damn restrictive pcm reflashed to make me happy (move shift points to 5800 and 6000 and rev limiter to 6500... and reset the fuel tables timing and all that stuff)

....it woulnt let me link photos untill i have over 15 posts... when i get 15 ill post pics lol

ill give credit where it's due, titans are pretty quick trucks off the factory line, and with the few mods you have, i have no doubt you would beat one. good race

Re: Titan versus V8 Dodge Dakota

damn finally 15 lol
next year i hope to get my speed mods for the year done and put a 1'' front, 2'' rear drop on it. the only exterior mods so far are a painted wiper cowl (was black like the mirrors) and the clear corner signals

and the nappy rusted exhaust tips are now gone, and replaced with nice shiney ones and the fender wells are clean
