Stock and run what you brung, it's no contest. A Lightning is a whole different truck and would win-were you thinking otherwise? The published 0-60 times would tell you that without running against a Titan.

But who knows-maybe someone will want to do it.

Take videos for us!

Re: Anyone want to run a lightning?

The Lightening is supercharged, put the Stillen SC on the Titan and then walk away from it.

Re: Anyone want to run a lightning?

A Stillen supercharged Titan would definitely be a good race for a stock Lightning. However, the supercharged 5.4L has all forged internals so they can do pully swaps until the cows come home for huge power gains. There is a limit to the amount of power the stock shortblock can handle though. I think it's around 650rwhp or something like that. Get too greedy and you'll throw a connecting rod through the crankcase. There's a video on Streetfire.net of a guy in a Mustang Cobra street racing a Corvette Z06 until he blows a connecting rod out the side of his block. 600+rwhp will do that to a stock shortblock.LOL!

Since Lightnings are all single cab short beds, they are pretty light as fullsized trucks go. Probably 4300lbs or slightly less. The lightest stock Titan is about 5000lbs.

A heavily modified Powerstroke or Duramax diesel probably wouldn't have a problem nor would a supercharged SRT-10. But a Stillen supercharged Titan? I don't know. We would need forged pistons to run higher boost levels with the Stillen supercharger to compete with lightly modded Lightnings.

I do see alot of Lightnings around here though. They seem to be a popular truck. The old supercharged Harley Davidson F-150's are popular too, but they're a little more rare. If the Lightnings weren't so freaking ugly, I'd probably get one myself. However, I can't stand that round Taurus-like "ovoid" styling. Plus, it's a Ford and you know how that goes....Found On the Road Dead.

Re: Anyone want to run a lightning?

I saw a Saleen F150 S331 Sport Truck on Sunday. Pretty nice truck. Real small back seat area and a $49,000 price tag though. Rated at 450hp/500tq.
I saw a real nice f150 crew cab a couple of weeks ago...a half block behind me..lol.

Re: Anyone want to run a lightning?

you know i traded a 2001 lightning in on my 2006 titan. and IMO. the titan would woop the lightning for the first 60 feet. i had to feather foot the lightning out of the hole to the tune of 2.3 second 60 foot times. i havent got to run the titan on the track yet so i dont know what it 60 foots. but the "butt " dyno thinks the titan is quicker. i also will gaurantee the titan is more fun to drive and doses better doughnuts. and so much cheaper to own. i wonder if the guy with the lightning is interested in buying a set of snow tires i have out in the shed? there mounted on on 16 steel ford wheels. (200 cash) even running all four snow tires the lightning is completley useless in the snow. im not gonna miss renting a storage garage to hide my lightning in this winter, or buying a $500 car to drive back and forth to work this winter.thats it ill race him in the snow in two wheel drive. lightnings do have a locker in the rear stock. 3:73's i dont know did i grow up or did reality set in. i love my titan more the i ever did my lightning.

I doubt it. Way to stay optimistic tho!! FYI there are tuned, boosted Silverado SS that cant beat a lightning. Im not saying its not possible for it to happen. Just gonna take more than "slapping" on a supercharger.

LMAO, couldn't of said it better myself. I think that's why Ford changed the styling in '04 to get rid of the rounded girly look.

Don't use the brake to disengage the Cruise control. It might burn up.

A Lightning would be fun to haul a$$ in as long as no one saw me.

I use to get 2.2 60 ft's with my stock lightning untill i learned how launch it. I actually brought my 60's down to 2.0's with doing a small dry burn out before the run. I always hear your not suppese to warm up street tires but it worked for me.
