Worked Over A Powerstroke F-250 & Cummins 2500 Ram
First off...these were two entirely different races that took place on different days...but on the same street. But anyways, lets start with the Ford. I was at the red light and I notice a dark alpine green F-250 coming down an emtpy lane to charge the green light probably going about 25-30. Remember...I was at a stand still and the light turns green....I lean fast into WOT to make sure I don't slip. I look to my side....I was half a truck behind then it became even when I hit 50 with the F-250 next to me...noticing that its was a Powerstroke with the long emblem on the side. I started pulling fast after 60 mph and killed it at the next light. It come next to me again...but this time...didn't want to race off the line.
The next day....today....the same strait away...same light....a Cummins 2500 Ram was to my left and to my right...a Suburban. All the trucks...including mine ....where white. Go figure. But the light turns green...and I wasn't expecting a race....I just go like normal to get thru the lower gears to get my cruise speed. Then I noticed the Ram starting to gun it.....and I was like.....not on my watch......I WOT...weird thing is....I stuck neck and neck at around 50 and after 60....I pulled hard on him. The Suburban was somewhere back there but I noticed each time...both the Cummins and the Powerstroke waited when they got speed so they can WOT. Turbo lag maybe? Dunno. I didn't hear the Cummins at the light power braking so I didn't figure he wanted a run. But anyways, those are my two kills that are worth mentioning.
Re: Worked Over A Powerstroke F-250 & Cummins 2500 Ram
I enjoyed my Cummins Ram, it was fast for being 6500lb. What hurt was having the manual instead of the auto if I wanted to play around. Every time I had to shift I lost boost.
I loved towing with it, though. There was no contest who was the fastest up the hills, I had no problems setting the cruise to 70 and keeping it in 5th gear up any grade towing my Jeep on a 16' flatbed trailer. Trailer? There's no trailer back there...

how come i dont get excitment like that..the most ive ever gotten casual driving was with a silverado ss...he smashed the line, and i just casual increased speed...i figured, he can waste his gas. haha

Well to be honest...all the Turbo Desiels I've raced ended up the same way. They usually would have the lead and I would end up passing them up at aroun 60. Weird. But the two had to be stock. I've raced a superchiped Duramax and that thing took off at the line while I was trying to find traction...still passed him up.....and that was when I was stock....or maybe he just let up....weird.

Keep in mind diesels have a much lower redline RPM with the same gearing as a gas engine. Running 70mph in my Cummins Ram was about 2200rpm if I remember right, redline was 3000rpm. Before hitting 3000rpm it would slowly cut fuel, so it wasn't like hitting a wall...more like creeping to redline. Newer Cummins Rams have a higher redline, as do the Duramax and PSD.
The diesels weren't meant for top speed, so who knows...maybe they just started to run out of oomph.

you can usually tell the moded ones if they have a big nasty 5 inch exhaust poking out the rear. personally i have a hard time getting the diesel guys to run with me.

I went with a 4" exhaust after a little research showed not much noticeable difference between that and 5" for EGT reduction , I also went with the MBRP "installer " series which looks just like the original so it's not as obvious that mine is modded. I had to mod my transmission too since it's not recommended to add more then 90-100HP to the original Allison without modding. Yahooligan might be correct about the redline on diesels I just know my truck has a neck-snapping launch then get's a second wind around 50MPH which is probably caused by the Edge defueling between 4th and 5th gear. I don't have anything to compare it too but am very impressed with how fast it will go from 0-90 especially for a 6,700 pound truck.
BRACE those trucks could have very well been modded, the Titan just moves out quick and keeps getting faster
