V10 Hemi

Alright everybody, it has officially been leaked. The 2009 Dodge Ram will have an optional 7.0 liter V10 Hemi that will pump out a whopping 600 hp. Dodge will upgrade the 5.7 liter hemi to just over 400 hp and trq. They will scrap the optional 3.5 liter engine and stick with the 4.7 litre engine as the bottom option and up the 4.7 liter to over 305 hp. All I can say is that Nissan (I am sure they will) come out with a power option that would match the V10 HEMI. As of this point it has been leaked but the folks at Daimler Chrysler will not Deny it, and will not Comment when it comes to confirming it either.

wow I would be really surprised if they offered a 7.0...in a way, that would take away sales from the Srt Ram

i'll believe it when i see them on the lots

bumping up the 5.7 to 400 hp/tq I do believe...they want to make sure they one up nissan the second time around

The Srt10's aren't being made anymore. Could this be why?

do you know if they will have a real "Truck" tranny? the srt10s hade the viper tranny that couldnt tow. it would be cool to see it with a beefed up tranny that could carry a load. also the 600hp version i think would be out of most of us mortal's price range. maby the 400hp version we will actually see more of on the st. also, i wonder what the rwhp will be stated as in jan 2008 when manufactures have to state rwhp not "over inflated " crank #s

My question is, why?

They shouldn't touch the 5.7 (still leave it as an option)

They should put the 6.1 Hemi with 425 as an Option.

This is how it should be.

6.1 liter HEMI V8 w/mds- 425hp/420trq
5.7 liter HEMI V8 w/mds- 390hp/400trq
4.7 liter V8- 300hp/300trq *with optional MDS
3.5 liter V6- 250hp/250trq

Maybe the spread between the 5.7 and 6.1 is too small. Maybe too many would skip the 6.1 price and MOD the 5.7 for less money. So the 7.0 would actually sell more, or at least give best bragging rights and reputation to the Ram. Much like Corvettes do for Chevy.

I'll be sure to stay away from the 7.0's

Wow, 7.0L! I guess one will need all that HP and Torque to haul that tanker trailer of fuel to feed it.

I'm still waiting to see a stock SRT 10 run better than a 14 flat on the tires they came with. I like to play with them on the street. I think tires is the very first upgrade that should be done to them, even before putting in fuel.
