Titan vs Civic

There was a Civic flying down 22nd and caught up to him at a red light. I was still rolling when the light turned green at about 5 mph and I nailed the throttle and left him in the dust so I figured I'd give him a chance next red light.

He nails it from the red light and goes just about nowhere. While his fart can is emitting wannabe vtec farts, I gain a truck lead in about 50 yards and give him the hazards just because I thought it would be funny. Well, he didn't think it was so funny and tries to give me the ricer flyby and cut me off but I swing to his outside and in about 50 more yards I pull even and pass him on the right.

I don't know what mods he had but there was more of a fight put up by the Dodge 1500 non-hemi earlier in the day.

Re: Titan vs Civic

Them kids in them civics are funny. They think they are fast. The other day, I had one rev at me a couple times when I was in the EVO. I just laughed at him and watched him take off. The wife was like " that was the longest take off that i've ever seen"!

Re: Titan vs Civic

Oh on another note, I worked with this kid back in 1990. We were talking about cars one day he starts making fun of my 88 nissan sentra. I asked him what he drove and he was like, I drive a fast hot rod. So we go look at his hot rod, it was an 88 civic (dropped with rims, exhaust, intake and all the basic bolton). He was like your sentra can't keep up because it's not a sports car. I was like, your civic is not a sports car either. He was set that his civic was a sports car (a 4 door sports car).

Anyways, when we both got out of work, he thought he could loose me with his "sport car". NOT! I was on his bumper like glue all through 5 gears. That was funny as heck! My cheap sentra stayed with him all the way. He didn't want to be friends the next day..........

Re: Titan vs Civic

There are some nice hondas out there though. I have a friend that has a 92 hatch back that is really clean, perfect paint, nice non bling wheels, limo tint and no crazy exhaust tip but he does have a Jap spec H22 fully built stuffed in. He also just finished tuning his new turbo set up and should be in the low 11's-high 10's with his car, the thing is absolutely insane. I haven't seen the car in a while since I moved 1500 miles away from where it is but it is faster than my other friends lightly modded Z06. They are few and far between but there are fast hondas out there. Most of them don't have stupid *** body kits and pointless wings though.

Re: Titan vs Civic

Got paired up with a crappy looking Honda Civic sporting black primer, racing slicks and some sort of turbo inter-cooler. He ran a 12.8 and smoked me but I bet it cost him a lot to do it, lol.

Re: Titan vs Civic

It would cost around $5,000 in performance parts to get the civic hatch into the 12's. That's if he purchased it legitly.

Re: Titan vs Civic

Yeah, I forgot to mention it was a 4-door to boot.

When I dusted him the second time, I thought he was not racing. Then I heard his tires chirp and I knew he was milking the hamsters for all they are worth.

He had a brand new civic fully loaded for his first car and someone hit him and totalled it so he got all the insurance money. He decided to just build an older civic and make it scream instead of buy a newer one again. Yes, it did cost him a pretty penny but he also did all the work him self.

Re: Titan vs Civic

i dunno, i've never owned a 4 banger and i never will simply because logic tells me that going fast will take more then 4 cylinders... remember the muscle car era, chevy, ford, dodge, never built high performance inline 4's..

i don't fully understand the sport import scene... unless it's at least a 6.

is it affordable performance? is that why guys invest in riced 4 bangers? and even after mods, your car sounds like a fart box... braaaaaaaaaaap.

Re: Titan vs Civic

I've always been an 8-cylinder, rwd fan. The only reason I have my f-banger is because I won it the first week I was in Tucson. Went a whole year with it being just a DD and not touching it. Finally I stumbled across a website where they were doing mods for 5-10 hp a pop for super cheap. I got bored with doing that quickly and just boosted the damn thing. Threw on a 50 wet on top of that and you're running with any car on the road and still getting 30 mpg. But I'm pretty sure I'm an exception to the rule.

The reason I see MOST people modding them is because they buy them and then realize they're slow. Then they dump every paycheck into Autozone mods and have an ugly, slow 4-banger. There are a lot of nicely done, fast Hondas out there but for every one, there are 1000 that are slow and the problem is that most of them THINK they're fast and can cite an example of a friend that will "smoke your ***". So I let them think what they will and I'll keep surprising people every stop light.

Personally to me, it's about handling. If I wanted pure drag racing or top speed racing it would definitely be a V8 and rwd. Try keeping up with me in the canyons with a camaro or mustang.

4 bangers can be made to go very fast, it just takes money to make anything go fast. While comming home from a Vegas trip, I ran into a new 2007 gsxr1000 in Glenwood Springs in Colorado. He thought he was hard core until I showed him what an EVO 8 was designed to do in those canyons. I was pushing 110-120mph around those roads easy and the Gixxer rider was having a hard time keeping up, actually him and his buddies couldn't keep up.
