Titan vs. 07 Vortec Max

Well i finally got to race a couple people this weekend and i was suprised with the outcome. My buddy has an 07 Chevy ext. cab with the Vortec Max 6.0 in it. I know the vortec max trucks have always felt pretty quick to me so i figured he would get me. Well we lined em up and got a buddy to flag us, we take off and i get about a fender out on him, once i get to 4K rpms i start to pull away. I keep pulling away as we go through the gears and by the time i reached the 1/4 i was at least 3 truck lengths ahead. I was very happy with my truck after that haha. It makes me feel like i def. made the right choice getting a Titan because all my life i have been a die hard chevy guy along with pretty much all of my family.

Were you at a local dragstrip? Do you have any times for the Chevy???

No we were out in the country on a section of road we always race on. Neither truck has been down an actual dragstrip yet.

No he is bone stock. He just got rid of his 04 Vortec max truck that had some things done to it, ran 14.4-14.7 at 93-95 mph, he said my truck is prob right there with his old truck.

yea ive beaten a few chevys myself too lol theyre fun to race especially when they brag that chevy is the best. chevys good in old school days when it was all straight motor. im still a die hard chevy guy but i wouldnt trade my 07 titan for the world!!! TITANS RULE!

I used to be a GM guy as well and had two Sierra's. My Titan has such a superior drivetrain it really is no contest. GM really dropped the ball with their new trucks. 4 speed transmissions, are you kidding me?? Eventually, the 6.0 "vortecmax" will go away and the 6.2 that is currently in the Denali and Escalade will replace it. It will be mated to a six speed auto which should put it well ahead of the current Titan.
By then the Titan will be upgraded and GM will be behind again. The Tundra is also getting a lot of attention from former GM guys. Don't get me wrong, I love my Titan but it is sad to see that GM cannot even keep their once loyal customers like me around.

Good kill. Is the KC like the extended cab of the chevy's or the extended cab of the fords? It was a good kill but I doubt you're running 14's stock. From what I've read on here most Titans runs 15-16 stock. Chevy really could use some work on their trans/drivetrain. I think even most chevy people as myself will admit to that. The Titans drivetrain really helps it put down good HP numbers. The vortec max engine(heck any engine chevy makes) are not very consistant 1/4 wise from what I've seen. On the ss site we've got people runnnig very different times even with the same mods. These trucks are all over the place from 14's to 16's in stock form and that's just crazy IMO. Good kill again.

Well from what ive seen on this site you can see times on titans anywhere from 14.9-on up in stock trim. I know a few people with nothing but intake and exhaust such as myself who have seen mid to high 14's. Now im not going to claim anything as i dont know what it runs until i hit the track but it would not suprise me if i broke into the 14's in this truck as it sits. I punched off with a buddy who has a single cab dodge hemi that runs 13.5-13.7's @ 96-97mph and he didnt start pulling me til 3rd gear and only had me by maybe a truck length at 100. I have driven quite a few cars and trucks on the track ranging anywhere from 10seconds to 16 seconds and i believe this truck could run in the 14's as is. I will be going to the track in the next few weeks to prove this.

Thanx for the info, i have been going back and forth on whether or not i should get the titan or the sierra denali, my question is if the vortec has .4 more liters of displacement and almost 30+ hp how is the titan still winning; the only thing is that maybe the titan's weight to hp ratio is better or maybe the 5 lb torque difference, watever the case im pretty sure i'll be picken me up a black 2008 texas titan LE crew cab on March 12 2008, although do you think that the next generation fords will be upgrading there engines? and if so will the stand up to GM, Toyota, and Nissan?
