Took A New Tundra

So last night my friend and I who just happens to be a toyota tech., went to the store.
As we pulled out on a main street A 2007 Toyota Tundra 5.7 pull up on my left side of me. My budy did the "You dont have a hair on your a$$ if you dont" thing, so I reved up a little and the race was on. he got a nice little jump because I was sleeping then I reeled him in like a big mouth bass before a honda got in his way and he backed off.
When he let off I was a healthy fender ahead. It was great sharing this experience with my TOYOTA budy. HAHAHA

Nice kill. I think if my races with Tundras at the strip are any indication though, it might be a different story after the 1/8th mile. Have fun and be safe.

Re: Took A New Tundra

Nice win! But in reality, those bad boys will clean a Titans clock, even with mods. If you run up against another one with a driver that knows what he is doing, the results will be different. I hate to pull up to a light and see one of those things next to me. Now I know how the chevys and furds felt sitting next to a Titan acting like he did not see it.

Re: Took A New Tundra

I did one of those pre dilivery check with my budy the other day I was not really impressed there no way i would trade my titan. Not knocking them because they are a nice truck. Alot a thought went into them.

Re: Took A New Tundra

I'm wondering, is there anything to this "break-in" period where you don't really have full use of HP until a certain mileage? If so, I see an awful lot of stories on here with the Titan winning over the Turds. But could they be "sleeping" still? At 5000 miles, if you raced one, would you lose the farm? Just kinda wondering out loud here......

Oh... sorry... Nice kill!

Maybe you could ask your Toyoyo tech buddy about this.

Re: Took A New Tundra

I raced one from about a 30mph roll, and stayed with him to about 75, then he started edging forward.
I would imagine from a start I would've lost, but not by much.

The one I raced a couple weeks ago was running .1 quicker in the quarter than me and all my mods. I say bring some mods to the party and pack a lunch because the other one I saw wasn't much slower than that one. Both DC, both stock with over 5000 miles on them.

Re: Took A New Tundra

The whp dyno's don't lie. Tundra is obviousely going to be faster....... top end. I think these Tundra beatings are because the Tundra is still in sleep mode as others have mentioned. I thought my truck was pretty strong until 5000 miles came around and wow! It woke up! Either way, that Tundra is beautiful and if they bring out the diesel, I'm in.

Re: Took A New Tundra

true dyno #s dont lie but its all how you get it to the ground. The tundras are a towing truck thats what they are made for. Every race toyota dose to show how fast there trucks are have trailer fully loaded atached. There friction loss has to be bad. Have you seen the size of those diffs.? 2X the Titan.

That may be true but so are ours and here is a couple track slips with me racing some Tundras before and after my headers. I'm not trying to rain on this parade or anything and my Titan will be in my drive for a long long time. Just being real and from what I have seen you better bring something other than a mildly modded Titan if you plan on stomping on any Tundras in the quarter mile.
