Hey Gang, Does anyone know anything about the Chevy Silverado ss? I had a guy pull up on me, on the freeway, nice fire engine red, slammed, front spoiler, rims etc and sounded Nice!. I have yet to recover from the celica disaster, and I know they say "If you fall of a horse get wright back in the saddle" But I did not race the guy. He finally gave up. I left my truck in cruise and ignored his attemps, I have seen the truck comming home from work in the past but he never challenged me, that in itself, pretty much told me that something changed under his hood, at least that is my assumption. Anyone run with that type of truck? my estimate would be that his truck was born in 06,07.
TIA
Goose.
Yes, stock for stock, you can run with them until topend kicks in. But if it looks tricked out, then nine times out of ten, the motor will be built first. Runn'em anyway! What the hell, it's all for fun anyway right? The titans can hold their own with the SS's until they are modded. The 6.0 can be a handful when modded properly. Papa has ran some at his track and beat them.

Well, my times suck right now, but my best is 14.5 @ 96.23 at 2300 above sea level. I've only got a mild tune for now. If my tuner did a wild tune, I'd be running 14.2, and if I was sea level, then I'd be about a 13.8. Stock SS's are running 15.5-16.0 at our track. Some of the modded titan guys that I run with are running 15.5. I think Vegastitan21 use to run a 15.5 before his big tire install. It's the attitude thats hurting us in Vegas.

Yeah, in the summer the stock ones seem to be about on par with a Titan but race for fun and you never lose. I saw an SS running an 11.30 at the track the other day. I got to talking to the guy and he was building a home for one of the higher ups at GM and driving his Ford there daily. The GM guy gave him the best discount GM offers just to get him to change over, lol. I asked the guy how much he had in his truck and he said he stopped counting and his buddy said 90 grand. Probably somewhere in between but a saweeet truck non the less, it was a black one.

Stock 07 was running mid to high 16's at a track with 2700' elevation. Even if you take off a 1/2 sec that still isnt very "SS" like. They had a limited edition 'Joe Gibbs' 5.3 singlecab you could get for a while. Magna charger came on it, only downside was the ugly stepside configuration. Stoped doing them at the dealership cause so many broken tranny's
My AWD SS trailBlazer ran a 14.2 stock.. With just a Tune and a CAI it went to a 13.5.. I put a 100 shot and went to a 12.3@109 The TBSS weighs 5200.. The Tune is just unbelievable for GM products... And I just got a Vector Race TCM that is suppose to be good for another 2 Tenths.. Plug and play... Also When I was at the track there was a CAI and Tune only SS Silverado with the same Tune as me running 13.8's @ 100 MPH Put A 4000 Stall in it And Run 12's.. Im willing to bet there is not many stock one's out there..

Man I wanted to go to State Capitol last night (I'm sure the DA was awesome last night) but didn't feel like dealing with all the extra traffic from I-10 being closed. Then being that they had an SS with a best run of 15 flat, I would have made him look bad in my 05 CrewCab 5.3L running the same thing. I do have a few mods, but he has a 6.0L. Unless it was some clown with a regular pickup with SS badging?
You run anything last night? Any good numbers to post?
Just saw this thread. The SS at SCD was a black AWD x-cab it was running 15.20's all night long. I know he had a cat back but i did not get to look under the hood to see if he had anything else done to it. Stock to stock the titan would win, but like what has already been posted the aftermarket has a boat load of stuff for those trucks, so watch out.

Ill bet I could get a stock AWD SS to run 14.5 to 14.9 any day of the week... If you dont bring The SS up on the converter It looses at-least .5 in a 1/4... Same with my TBSS.. If I dont bring it up on the Converter Its a 14.9 machine.. If I hold the gas peddle down till the breaks barley hold anymore.. I can get a 14.2 out of it... I wonder how many 4x4 Titans Have tried this technique... Do any of you run in 4x4..

Actually the majority of them out here ARE stock or just exhaust. Most peepole seem to be into the huge wheels and dripping in billet.
I was talking to a guy at the gas station when the Trailblazer SS first came out, he lifted the hood and had a MagnaCharger on it lol! Turned out he worked there.... lucky SOB!!!
