Re: Chevy Silverado SS ?

Here's a short vid I thought I'd share with you guys. I was on my way home the other day and ran an 04' AWD SS. I beat him once before I turned the camera on, and on the first run, but wasn't paying attention on the second one and got beat. Maybe one day when I can get the power to the ground, I can do some more damage. (It's fine at the track, but not on the street) My truck just smokes the tires off the line, and can't get traction. I even let out some air, and running with 22lbs. of pressure in the rears. I guess I shouldn't have stalled up and went off idle, that might have helped me more. But it will help you guys understand how the SS AWD launchs so good of the line, so pay attention to the last run, and you'll see how fast he launch's. Just click on the vid.

Re: Chevy Silverado SS ?

Yeah, because I wasn't paying attention to the light and was trying to get the vid. That's ok, it was still fun. I didn't know they made an awd kit. It looks like it's just a pully system, but it seems like there would more to it. Thanks for the info.

Re: Chevy Silverado SS ?

What are you doing racing up there Terry, less than a quarter mile from my house haha. I have seen that SSS alot, he lives in the neighborhood next to mine. We're always passing in opposite directions when we see each other, I guess I know hwo I would fair with him now haha. Oh yeah, I think those rims he has are hideous.

Re: Chevy Silverado SS ?

I was suppose to go the other way on Gibson, but seen him to see if he would bite, and he did. Run him down and give it a shot. Be carefull of the AWD launch.

It's a Stillen grille. He has had nothing but problems with it. The grille looks nice but it sags because it melts at hot temperatures and in direct sunlight. He said that Stillen realizes the problem but would put an additive in their plastic to prevent it. He is sending it back and getting a speed grille.

Yes I was stock, and the SS is a embarrassment for Chevy. Everyone I know agrees the SS isn't worth it. AWD more drivetrain loss, and its heavy, it's slower than the Titan.

Bone stock the SS isnt much. But the 6.0 has a ton of aftermarket goodies to take from mild to wild.
