Won one and lost one

I was out running around this past friday night and pulled up next to a stock subaru WRX. I knew better than to try and run him from a dead stop so i sat quietly for the light to change. when we got the green we both took off about even and when we got to about 15-20mph a nailed it and took off. as soon as i hit it i heard him go WOT too and i knew it was on. with the slight jump and his slight turbo lag i pulled about a truck and a half length on him right at the begining and we ran till about 80mph and he could never make up the difference. i couldn't pull any more on him though either.
Then later on that same night i caught a light with a 300 with the hemi and threw some revs at him because he had been driving pretty fast through traffic so i figured he'd be up for a race. Well when the light changed i nailed and he did also. i stayed with him till around 30 or so and he started just walking away like i dropped anchor. HAHA I still had fun though and i wasn't too worried because i got beat by a hemi in a car because i know (from 3 first hand experiences) that my truck can smoke a hemi in a truck.

Nice kills. Sorry to say though, but I think the WRX had a bad driver in it.

Re: Won one and lost one

Yeah, those are both low 14 second cars but sounds like a good time.

Re: Won one and lost one

no not sneaky, just smart. i know their is NO WAY i would have a chance against a WRX or any other AWD car from a dead stop. It was a first generation(for US anyway) WRX and they only trapped mid-high 90's which isn't HUGE compared to what our trucks run. as much of a bonus the AWD is for a holeshot it hurts them from a roll due to the extra drivtrain loss. I'm also sure that the driver wasn't the best at drag racing because he honestly should have ran me down for the distance we went.

Are you sure about the WRX? My buddy has an '04, and we went from a roll. He walked all over me. Then again, he has an exhaust, HKS SSQV and Cobb Tuning Accessport. His new downpipe is on the way.

Re: Won one and lost one

Good kill, a small jump could be a huge advantage on the street. Pretty sure the LX Hemi cars run around the same times as the regular WRX's, mid-low 14's.

Re: Won one and lost one

With a really good, hard launch a WRX can run mid-low 14's stock, but i took that HUGE advantage away from him by waiting until we were at a slow roll. And turbo cars get absolutely HUGE gains from an exhaust and tuning(usually a boost controler). my friend had an AWD eagle talong and went from low 15's stock to low 14's-high 13's with nothing but a full 3" exhaust(down pipe too) and a manual boost controller. that's over a FULL SECOND from nothing but an exhaust and boost controller!!! and he gained like 7-9mph in the traps too. that's ALOT of horsepower for little mods. And i'm sure if he were a really good driver he would have been able to catch me and pass me but being fully stock AWD he wouldn't have went flying by me.

RGR that, the roll race is usually gonna make it more fair for the N/A vehicle. I made a diesel with a pretty big chip and other mods look silly from a 25mph roll race.

Gotta give props to those turbo cars though, so easy to mod and make some decent power with.

Re: Won one and lost one

Isn't there just a plain WRX that isn't that fast and then the STI version that is? Its like 220hp vs 300hp between the two models or something.
