Cannibalism!!

The trucks

Mine '08 crew cab se non-big tow
His '05 crew cab le with big tow

We started at about 80 mph he got the jump on me, but i just walked by him at about 100mph. I didn't think there would be that much of a difference between the two models. Now we have to try it from a Dig I'll keep you all posted.

Take the take off out of the equation and do a rolling start from 20 mph...

Re: Cannibalism!!

Should have been the other way around. His lower differential should outpull your high gears. I have never seen a non BT pull a BT truck. Stock.

With BT gearing your buddies truck is right in the middle of the low power over-rev at 100MPH since it shifts into 4th at about 105 around 5700-5800RPM, while your non BT truck is just starting to enter the lowpower over-rev since non BT will do 115-120 in 3rd. Hence the reason you pulled on him at 100MPH.

One more thing I noticed on non BT Titans is they shift at 5700RPM from 2nd to 3rd while my BT Titan painfully revs all the way to 6000RPM before shifting into 3rd. Trust me that few extra couple hundred RPM makes a huge difference.

Like I have said before in other threads if my Titan shifted at let's say 5200-5300RPM I bet it would be .5 second quicker in the 1/4 mile.

After driving my buddies '04 Titan with non BT that shifts at 5700RPM I firmly believe I would lose stock for stock. Just because of the extra over-rev.

Just my .02

I was iffy on how it was going to turn out. Both of us were shocked on how my truck just started to pull on his.

Re: Cannibalism!!

This site has seen quite a few matchups of big tow vs non big tow. Big tow, both trucks stock, wins. I do not pay any attention to the claimed 317 hp on newer Titans. 04 Titans were probably closer to 350hp stock. Nissan just keeps upping the quoted numbers when needed. As far as the 08 Titans, I do not believe they are any faster due to additional torque manegement to try to save their diffs was added. I would like to see more runs on stock 08 vs stock 04 or 05. Nissan changed my program on my Titan to keep the diffs from blowing. Any older Titan going in for service will get retuned without you being told. My dealer admitted it and said it was a update from Nissan and he had to do it.

Wow TallTexan, Nissan gave you a TM update and the dealer said he had to do it? That's not good. Guess I won't be taking my truck to the dealer.

I don't agree with the 317 HP either. When we had a NW dyno meet my '06 dynoed within 1 HP of an '07 with identical mods.

I bet if we hooked up 5000 lbs behind the trucks BT would win. I never have raced my buddies '04 so it is just my opinion.
