I've left my truck pretty much stock for the three years I've owned it. It runs great and I can hammer it all the time and nothing breaks. After reading all the stories from other Lightning owners that have pushed the envelope too far and vented a block, or their truck runs ruff, or they have so much horsepower they are breaking transmissions, rear ends etc., it just makes sense to leave it they way it came and take advantage of Ford's 7 years 75,000 mile powertrain warranty. I've had my truck up to 135 and it was rock steady and it really is a blast to drive. Having a reliable stock truck that runs in the 13's works for me, and I even use it to take my dirt bike out to the ranch.

Re: Titan vs Supercharged F150

yeah i totally hear ya. im pretty sure the next and last mod on my list is a set of headers...maybe a tuner if and when they come out. TRD has a s/c coming this summer/fall thats supposed to put us over 500 hp with warrenty, but the only way im getting one is if gas prices drop to 2.50 a gallon and one of you kick @ss titan guys let me borrow $6,000.

Running a supercharger has a major downside. Since it only takes a little right foot to spool it up (and the sound gets addicting very fast) and your gas mileage immediately drops, you will need gas prices to go below $2.50 if you really want to have fun. I read another site that there was some concern about the Tundras staying together with the s/c, and that was from a guy that was a wrench with Toyota. Have you heard anything about that?

In the long run you save money. Buying a vehicle setup for performance in mind to begin with already has a lot of extra parts built in.

I havent heard anything bad about the s/c or the new tundras not being able to handle them, as it will still be covered by our warrenty as long as its factory installed. I know this really bit toyota in the butt on the first gen tundras. They came with week rods and couldnt handle the boost. Toyota ended up having to replace alot of rods under warrenty and thats why there was no s/c available for the 05-06 tundras, as they took them off the market. I doubt they would make the same mistake twice, but who am I.

If you can swing it and they are covered under warranty, go for it!

If you are leaning that way, the price of gas has made these trucks more affordable, and with most owners doing all the different mods, a stock unmolested truck is getting harder to find. The hardest part about owning one is not getting pulled over, don't ask me how I know.
