News On The Tundra

I Was In Houston This Past Friday And Sat And Went To The Stereo Shop And There Sat A Single Cab Short Wheel Base New Tundra. Paper Plates And All. I Go In To Get A New Amp And The Guy Driving This Machine Was Pretty Young Guy. Long Story Short, He Was Cool So I Wanted To Run The New Tundra. All He Had Was Exhaust The Rest Was Stock. I Have A Cai, Exhaust, Tbs And Lift. We Went From A Dead Stop And That Thing Run Off On My Titan. Then We Went From A 55mph Roll And It Pulled About 2-2 1/2 Links From 55 Too About 100mph. They Are Quick. So If You See A 4 Door Or Ext Cab They Will More Than Likely Beat You If You Are Stock And They Are Stock. I Still Wouldnt Trade My Truck In For Anything Else. Just Thought I Would Share That

Re: News On The Tundra

I've gone agaisnt a CM and a DC, and beat both. They are not all as fast as they are cracked up to be. The RCs on the other hand are fast!

The DC will beat me, but its he wins, I win, I lose, that type of thing.

Re: News On The Tundra

One thing to keep in mind is that the Tundra has only been out just over a year and some drivers my not have many miles on em and thus they are not fully broken in yet. I don't think mine peaked to right around 15k. Plus depending on how they drive the truck will adapt. Folks that drive their trucks hard all the time will usually perform better than those that granny around all the time. Of course that goes for just about any vehicle now-a-days. Just something to take into consideration.

The DC I went with consistently went to the track with me. He had around 10k miles, and knew how to drive it. Maybe he has a dud? lol

Could be lol or could be that you have several bolt on mods that even out the playing field? What mods does he have?

At the time of the race, I had a Intake, Exhaust, and a 16:1 A/F Ratio, lol..

He is a DC with exhaust 4WD...

So both of our trucks are 4WD.

Re: News On The Tundra

Anyone know details on what helps the tundra's top end? Heads? Intake manifold? both, or something else?

Is the 6 speed's gearing a significant factor vs. the titan's 5, or no?

I imagine the ~100 cc displacement difference doesn't amount to much by itself...

I would say the gearing ratio, and the extra power has to help out a lot more.

Re: News On The Tundra

thanks...when I said top end I meant mid-high rpm. I haven't seen a tundra dyno chart, but based on the factory stated horsepower # vs. its displacement compared to the titan's tells me that the tundra has better midrange to top end... thus my question on why after looking at the specs it looks like the tundra has a slightly better compression ratio also which I'm sure helps with the baseline torque throughout the power band

Re: News On The Tundra

dont get it wrong the tundras are quick, but it all depending on the driver. im sorry stock on stock from a dead stop a tundra will leave the ole titan, but from a roll you can stay side by side.
