Kawasaki ZX750R wanted to race - being discussed at Nissan Titan Forums in the War Stories section.
I was on the highway headed home from work minding my own business, when a single light was comming up realy fast from behind. I switched over to the slow lane so it could pass. As soon as the bike got next to me, it slowed down to my speed and started revving on me and jumping forward. I ignored him and got off the highway at my exit. Dude follows me.
At the light, he's temping me by revving at me and saying common! I thought about it and said to myself, "what the heck!". We both take off at green making a left turn. I was on the outside lane and he was on the inside lane. I pulled on his *ss up and through 2nd gear and had to shut down because cars in front of us. I wasn't satisfied and wanted more...
I caught up to him again at another light. Now the guy still wanted a beating. So I gave it to him....... Off the start, 5k rpm launch and I'm ahead. All through the first 3 gears I was ahead but by 4th gear, he was pulling pretty hard on me. Finally passed me by 5th gear but not far. We shut it down and I pulled next to him. Told the kid he had some balls. He told me, my EVO was fast as hell. Kid told me his bike was a late 90's Kawi ZX750R but the front end looked like a ZX9R. Don't know, maybe he converted it.
The titan is put to hibernation for the summer and finally taking the EVO out for gas saving purposes.... Having a hard time saving gas at this rate!

First time I read this I was thinking you where on the gexer 1000 and it had me thinking what he had done to the zx7.LOL
same thing happens to me whenever I drive my brother's 300C SRT-8 (when he needs to borrow my truck for something)...these 600cc bikes always messing with me on the interstate...we punch it at 70 they pull on me some but past 115 or so i pass them and keep pulling..they don't have **** for top end which is where the 1000cc really shines
most of the time they ask me what is done to the car and never believe me when i say its pretty much stock...i was just as suprised as they were the first couple times i beat them

My GSXR 600 would pull hard way past 115. I never had a car keep up with me. Hell it would run around 130 in the 1/4 mile, and would still pull hard at 140, but that was the fastes I got it.
I dont understand why you said "he had some balls".......can you explain that one? Maybe you left out some part of him doing the racing while riding a wheelie the whole time or something. I am grasping here.

Your EVO must be one quick car!! That is pretty dang sweet!!
With my power output I've run mid 12's in the 1/4 on 91 octane (5800ft above sea level). I haven't run c16 in it yet but I'm sure low 12's would be accomplishable with race gas. I've seen many dip into the 11.7-11.9's at sea level with about the same power I'm putting out.

well this is on the street already going 70mph and keep in mind not every kid who has a bike can ride it to its full potential...maybe some of them run out of balls going that fast on the street? don't downshift at the start? this has happened 3 times and everytime pretty much the same but i'm sure a 600 with a skilled rider would do better...
you also have to take into account that the OP raced a 750 and beat him until 5th gear...the 6.1 in the SRT-8 should be putting down similar numbers at the wheel to what his EVO is and the bikes I raced were 150cc less than what he raced so I'd say it should be pretty accurate...

I left out the wheelie part didn't I. When we first raced making a left turn, I had so much power through the back wheels that I actually drifted that left turn and the kid made that turn ridding on one wheel. Don't ask me how he did it. He was determined to win at all cost. All I know was I was ahead of him for the first 2 gears but he was constantly fighting to keep his bike down. While on the long stretch, he was constantly fighting to keep that bike down. His front end was off the ground and he was as flat against that gas tank as he could. He had exhaust and who knows what else he did to it. I'm sure he thought he was just messing around with a completely stock EVO, as mine looks stock exept for the vortex generator on top of car.

The new 600's will smoke the older 750's. The one he was racing was a 90's model, and I know the post 02 gsxr's will run mid 10's at around 130 in the 1/4. But like you said it takes a good rider to put those numbers down. It is real hard to use the power without experience.

Either you have come up against some lame riders, or they weren't in the GSXR, R6, or CBR 600 class. It is true that motorcycles are more limited as the mph goes up due to aerodynamics and hp. This starts to matter more than the weight. Not that weight isn't still a factor.
I could swallow this if you were in a 911 turbo, or Z06. They would take a 600cc bike from say 130 and up. The 300c SRT-8 is pretty fast for what it is, but it isn't that fast.
Back to the topic at hand. The rider in this story sounds like he was a decent rider if he kept up with this EVO at 5,000 rpm launch. Sounds like it was a good match up. This EVO sounds pretty bad, nice car!!

It's funny how people think a average sports car will keep up with even the smaller current 600 sportbikes.I love forums.LOL
Maybe its just me, But I would NEVER entertain racing a Croutch (sp?) Rocket.Of any Manufature
But thats just me, those things are, simply put....... FAST. My truck has an ego, and I try to protect it, I choose my battles.
Peace,
Goose.
Don't mess with the new honda 1000 RR rockets.....
They are unbelieveable FAST...
0-100 in like 3 seconds or less.....
That is stock !!!
A friend of mine has one and he has hit the 100mph mark in 1st gear !!!!! No schit...
