Finally a Tundra race

One of my customers asked me to run him out on the ''new'' highway. I agreed but said I would run up to about 70-75 where most people drive anyways (wussie I know) on the highway, anyhow we pulled to the light side by side, light turn green and we both nailed it. left the line at the same time and were neck and neck until exactly 55mph when I finally started pulling. At 70 my rear bumper was even with his front bumper and we both let off.

Ok before ya'll start screaming no way hear me out.
This is a 2008 Double cab with the 4.7L with exhuast, 5 speed trany, 4.10 rear gears and stock tires, I am bone stock 05 KC 4x4 with b/t. Hard to believe that a 276 HP truck is that fast or my truck is really that slow. For all I know he is lieing about any other mods. I didn't look under the hood for anything special.

Re: Finally a Tundra race

The older 2005 Tundra's would also give the Titan a pretty good race too.

Re: Finally a Tundra race

Maybe if the tundra was highly modded and the titan was stock/ lightly modded. I dont know of any 05-06 tundras that could take a modded titan with out being s/c or squeezing. 05-06 tundras (and 07-08 4.7L) had 271hp and 315 tq. whats the titans running? 315hp and 385tq? the older tundras where lighter, but the new ones have the 4.10 gears so maybe thats why he kept up with you.

Sure they would, I had a 5.7 Chevy that would beat a 4.7 Tundra and my titan would kill that truck stock.

Re: Finally a Tundra race

Mr Greg is just confused. An older style tundra would give a titan a good run, they are lighter. Of course the titan being in the lead though.

Re: Finally a Tundra race

I have a friend with an 01 4.7 tundra with a aem intake and flowmaster muffler and another friend with a 06 chevy 1500 5.3 stock and I rode with my friend in the tundra and we went down a road with no cars and they started from a stop and his tundra pulled the chevy. he had only 1500 miles or so on the chevy and it wasnt broken in all the way so idk if thats why he lost.

Re: Finally a Tundra race

Before my Titan I had 2002 Chevy Silverado (5.3) and I raced my buddies 2003 Tundra (4.7). Both stock 4x4's and I pulled a length on him to 60. The 4.7's are strong little motors but by no means fast.

The 4.7 on drugs was quick enough to beat my Titan that had everything but cams at the time so they do pretty good on the NOS.

I think it more to do with the gearing becuase once I started passing him I pretty much pulled pretty fast until we shut down, almost like he was running out steam.

Re: Finally a Tundra race

i raced an older style tundra once. crew cab 4.7 2wd street tires stock height. even with my mud tires and 2.5" leveling kit he couldn't even keep up...and since titans are already heavier plus i have 4wd that only made the weight advantage even greater for him..still no dice
