Beat a 300z

My buddy pulled up to me at a light yesterday in his 300z and we took off on green. we started off pretty even but after 40mph i started to pull away. Went all the way to 112 and was ahead the whole time

Re: Beat a 300z

That 300z is too heavy and not enough hp (I believe 220hp).

Re: Beat a 300z

I have a new 2008 350Z with 306 HP (feels like more though). I know I have a slower, older, 2004 Titan with less HP(306 compared to 317), but it just feels like the Titan would not stand a chance against the Z.

The Z seems like endless, infinate power and it's not even broke in yet. Barely 300 miles. It's really weird to look at both window stickers and see the same HP.

Re: Beat a 300z

I took my buddies 04'-05' 350z by about a length or too and thought i was bad ***. Then i tried a newer one, 07-08 i believe, thinking the outcome would be the same, and got smoked pretty bad. Both z's were stock. whats different in the newer ones?

They got a hp bump for 2005 from 287 hp to 300 hp. The non-turbo version 300z from like 1990 to 1996 (pictured above) was the one with 222 hp.

Re: Beat a 300z

If you see one with the 2 creases in the hood, it's an older 350Z with 287 hp I think. If it has a hood bump (Nissan calls it a power bulge) it's a newer 350Z with 306 hp. The newest version 370Z or 400Z, or whatever it will be will get even more hp, like the 320-330ish range.
Heres mine with the hood bump

Re: Beat a 300z

yeah thats identical to the one that handed me my ***. I think both myself and my buddy were supprised when i beat his 04' 350z though. Not bad for a full size truck. But they are nice looking cars, and the suspension they have is incredible.

Yes, And if I remember correctly it would only hold the boost for like 9 seconds before the PC would drop the HP.

The one in the pictures is a 300zx TWIN TURBO, here are some specs
weight 1579 kg / 3481 lbs
power 223.7 kw / 300.0 bhp @ 6400 rpm
hp per litre 101.35 bhp per litre
bhp/weight
torque 383.7 nm / 283.0 ft lbs @ 3600 rpm
redline 7000 rpm

I personally own one... just with simple bol ons is pushing around 415WHP, when I turn up the boost to 22PSI and use 101 race fuel...... different story
