Titan next to a Saleen (newer)

Cant wait to hear BLOWN330's views on this...

Today on the way home from work, I pull up to a light (3rd car back) like I always do, then I hear this terrible GROWL, and look up and all i see is a faint speck of taillights of some unknown white car. I am finally able to get close enough to see that it is this older guy I have seen around in a newer Saleen Mustang. I will the next light to be red, so that I can pull up next to him.

I know that this guy is gonna TROUNCE on his accelerator pedal, so I figure "what the hell, let's see whaat the ole girl's got!"

I hit the manual shift button and drop it all the way down, the light turns green, and its ON! I am shifting through the gears, and I can hear this guy doing the same. By the time we stopped acceleration, we were 60 yards from the light wewere just at, doing about 85!

He definitely had me, but it was ALOT closer than I had expected!
I mean, I knew that I really had no chance, but I was curious as to what she could do, and she did not let me down at all!

A few hundred yards down the road, we came to the same speed, gave eachother a smirk and a thumbs up...knowing that we just made eachother's day (not to sound ghey or anything)

IT WAS AWESOME!

Justin

Thats awesome man, are the saleens s/c or do they get the intake/ exhaust/ tune that the Shelby GTs get (bumps them up a whopping 25 horses for only 10k more than a stock GT). I finally got my pops to agree to race me next week at the track. should be good, 08 mustang gt vs my truck.

Re: Titan next to a Saleen (newer)

I am not100% positive, but I am pretty sure that they are s/c...we can wait to see if blown330 is gunna chime in with his vastly superior knowledge of the Ford Motor Company's vehicle specs...

::edit::after perusing Saleen . com, I have come to the conclusion that you can get them either way...

No all of them are not SC'd. If you look close at his badges it will say if it is or not. If he was blown you should have heard it when you guys took off.

Going by speed you probably ran about 1000'.

Nice run... as mentioned it could be badging, an appearance package, or the real deal..

I may run a Cobra next time my co-workers club has a track day..... just for fun and braggin rights.

the way i see it, if I lose it's ok... if he loses to my 5K truck with minimal mods he will never live it down

What year Cobra and can he drive???? If he is running the IRS rear, he may hop the crap out of it and get out of the gas. Which is when you can get a much needed head start. Would be funny if you did beat him though....Excuses would be dropping like rain

2001 magestic blue cobra convertible svt... he's been building his IRS to get rid of his bad wheel hop and according to him he can "chirp gears all the way to 4th" to which i asked "and why is that good?" he's got adjustable front shocks as well... i think the only performance mod is an intake and offroad x pipe..

first and last time i was on a track was this june in rockingham. i ran mid 16's but it was also 104*...

I'm kind of excited to take the truck down the strip again..... what a rush. the rock was so tacky my 305's sounded like they were glued down!

I've got street fire videos of me racing a Saleen. I beat him to the end...but he has a very slightly better ET.

Re: Titan next to a Saleen (newer)

The V6 is a joke! A coworker has one and is always asking what he should do to his V6 to make it faster (like boltons). I always tell him, should've gotten the V8........

I raced a non supercharged one... they are heavy GT's. Beat him by a couple lengths and took some money off of him.

Re: Titan next to a Saleen (newer)

S281 is NOT supercharged. S281E (Extreme) is supercharged.

You can tell the difference because the Extreme comes with a rear decklid spoiler and and regular one does not.

ETA: I used to work at a Ford dealer a few years ago and had a direct contact at Saleen.
