my buddy has an 08 5.7 tundra crewmax 2wd and i just recently got an 08.5 cc 4wd and ever since i bought it he has been urging me to run 'em. We finally got the chance last night and going into it i knew i was more than likely going to get beat. I did get beat but i was also surprised at how well the titan hung. He has a k&n cai along with a flowmaster exhaust and i am completely stock with the added weight of 4wd. We raced 2 times rolling 30 and i would get the jump and pull all the way until i shifted into second and then he would take off and by 85 he was a 1/2 truck in front. When we raced from a stop i jumped first and pulled all the way until 2nd and again the same outcome. For a supposedly 83 less hp im impressed with the titan. I think stock vs stock a titan would take a crewmax, but he still has a big head and its time for me to start modding.

nope sorry buddy stock crewmax beat a titan everytime plain and simple just more hp.... trust me ive tried
I'll have to disagree. I've beaten one with the few mods I have (DIY Airbox Mod, 2* Advance and Magnaflow muffler replacement). The expression on the guy's face in the Tundra was priceless. He just couldn't believe I was beating him. I won, but by about a half a truck.
Also, that Tundra CrewMax is carrying around 500 extra pounds more than the CC Titan....

5.7 2x4 Tundra with CAI, and exhaust only beating your stock 4x4 Titan by 1/2 truck at 85 you did good, good job. Slap a cai and exhaust on your Titan and see what the outcome is when the mods are equal.
You know you really should have put it in 4hi and went directly to WOT off the bat in the race from a dig, you would have cut around a 2.1 60ft and holeshotted the hell outa him, you probably would have won. Gotta use that 4x4 to your advantage.
I would like to say that beating a DC Tundra or a CM is possible. Go on youtube, and search Titan vs Tundra, and you will see my black Titan beating a DC Beige Tundra down the 1/8th. I had I/E, and he had an exhaust. We are both 4x4 too...
I also think we could beat a stock CM Tundra.
Slap on an intake and exhaust, even it up, and see what the out come is.
I would be scared to death to use my 4wd on pavement! After hearing about all the diff failures on here i leave mine for the gooey stuff and deep sand. I'll take a loss (albeit a small one) but keep my front diff. HAHA I had a similar outcome with a guy in my town with a new tundra. We are both 4wd, mines a KC and his is the smaller 4 door(can't remember what they call it?), mine has magnaflow/muffler shop exhaust, his has magnaflow exhaust, TB spacer and CAI. We ran from a dig and i got about half a truck on him out of the hole and held him off to about 50mph and then he went by and put about a truck and a half on me by 85-90mph. Even though I lost i was still happy because I think if i had a stillen CAI (to kinda even it up) I would have either beat him or gave him one super close race. He ended up being a really cool guy. now the RCSB tundra i ran at the racetrack was a whole different race! HAHAHA it was extremely UGLY for me! can you say ohhh, 10 truck lengths or more?
just an FYI, 40 mph is kinda our sweet spot. Ive even managed to pull my dads 08 mustang GT by a couple lengths at 40-45. Dont think very many trucks can take us in that zone, stock or not. Crewmax are freaking heavy, but people still take em to the track. I dont ever recall seeing any hemi megacabs at the track.

Thats because its as big as a schoolbus! lol
Yea the crewcab toyota is a heavy sob. That sucks a lot of the juice up reight there. I forgot what the magazines claimed on the tundras 1/4 mile times. i think (with their so called profesional drivers) , the single cab is capable of a 14.1, the extra cab a 14.7, and the crew a 15.5. That puts it ahead of the titan in the extracab department and behind the crew or about even. The titans are strange to me in the fact that the crew cabs run almost identicle track times as the extracabs. Im guessing since its the same frame, only about 200 lbs heavier with the wieght distributed a little better towards the rear.
Truth is every truck runs different even 2 identicle.
yeah i know what ya mean. We got some guys on TS that have crewmax running 14.8 1/4 miles with just intake/exhaust. Pretty good for a bus. Lol theyre just as fast as a s/c f150.

Sorry buddy weight plays a HUGE role in racing. CM Tundra's are about 500 lbs heavier then a CC Titan.
Just because it has more horsepower, it doesn't mean it's faster.
For instance my truck's about 500 lbs lighter then the lifted CC in your avatar
and I would absolutely kill you in a drag race, and we both have the same
engine and horsepower. Now what

I also forgot to mention he is running 20's which could play a part. Also does anyone have a suggestion on an exhaust that is a good performer with minimal in cab resonance?

yuban is a good one, so is foldgers....oh wait, wrong exhaust. lol. I love my flowmaster 50 series. quiet when u want it to be Loud when u mash out. Theres something about the titans with exhaust. very distinct. I can always tell em apart from any other v8 truck, mine included. Just really really aggresive.

thank u. Can you buy just the muffler and put it on the stock exhaust and if I did would there be a performance difference? The reason being is I do not like dual rear exit
