Come on...where's the respect???

I was minding my business when I noticed a DC Tundra up ahead in the outer lane. I was on the inner lane and was approaching to pass the Tundra. I noticed that the Tundra had accelerated and appeared to not want me to pass. "Lucky for him, a slow car was in front of him forcing him to slow down. I passed and was on my way when I noticed the Tundra had changed lanes and was now tailgating me. As the Tundra passed the slow car, it moved back into the outer lane and drove along side me. As I accelerated, so did he. To check was his intentions were, I stumped on the gas, letting the Stillen LT and b pipes sing. The Tundra stayed by my side. A slow car was again on his lane. The Tundra again changed lanes and began tailgating me again. I noticed up ahead our lanes were clear...I decided it was "ON" win or lose. The strange thing was that the Tundra did not change lanes to come along side me, but instead kept tailgating me. I slowed down to let him get closer "just being fair". As he got closer, I stumped on the gas and pulled away, but the Tundra accelerated and closed the gap; however, that was short lived. I started pulling away. If I could only see the eyes of the driver. I decided to call off the challenge when I noticed I was ahead about a truck and a half. On the next light, the Tundra kept its distance and never got close to me again. As I mentioned in my past threads, I don't go out bullying other trucks to race, but when called out...win or lose, Im there. I guess Tundra owners believe highly on their commercial that no other trucks can out run them. That driver is possibly scratching his head asking himself..."what went wrong?". Lets face it...Tundra's got a bigger engines with more hp, but come on...where's the respect?

Sorry, but i think any tundra would out run a non VVT titan with only uprev as their mods. Just coming from someone that has raced them with WAY more mods than you have.

Re: Come on...where's the respect???

well i believe in his story he said he had stillen LT and b-pipes...which probably means he has a catback and intake too.....with intake, catback, and Uprev a Titan will be about the same as a Stock DC...but if he also has headers and b-pipes then he has a low 14 second Titan while the Tundra DC runs about a 14.7 stock....nice kill man!!! now that i have a few more, mods i cant find one to race!! lol

Re: Come on...where's the respect???

but you are right...stock for stock or even a lightly modded Titan against stock DC, the Tundra will win....VVT or not

Okay guys....Im not braggin that I "out ran a DC Tundra". It just happened. The driver initiated that challenge....win or lose, I accepted. Keep in mind, the DC was not the 5.7 because I didn't see the emblem on the fender. I admit the Tundra's are fast. I was just surprised that my truck was able to keep it at bay. I dont brag with what mods I have....in my opinion, it all depends on the driver. But to shine some light, the mod's I have are UpRev/Osiris, trutrac, modded volant CAI, Stillen LT, Stillen b-pipes, and JBA exhaust.

The Stillen LT and b pipes are okay, but so far, I and a few of TT and CT members are having problems with error codes. P0340 and P0420. So far no one has solved the problem. No emulators were used. Wrote Stillen about the problem, but no response.

Nice kill, I know my Tundra has a few weak spots from a roll. Do you know how fast you were going when both of you hit it?

Are those codes related to the O2 sensors that are now freaking out because there's no pre cats now?

Not sure...inquired from RB and Toomny but no one really can pin point the problem. I've check my MAF sensors, all 02 sensors, all are working fine. Maybe the design of the b pipes. Ive read other Titans that have the Stillen LT but run no cats have the same codes, but it doesnt hamper their performance. Some are are still running low 14's in the 1/4 mile with the codes.

We were going between 35/40 mph. I dont take anything away from the Tundra's. Toyota did their homework this time.

I never knew the Titans were that fast, we have two of them at work and they are dogs, then again they drive like 5 mph in the plant and idle all day.

If the codes are related to the secondary O2 sensors, there is a $5 mod you can do to eliminate the CEL. All you need is a spark plug de fouler that's the same size as the O2 sensors. Drill out the center with a 7/16 or 1/2" drill till the sensor will seat in the de fouler, but don't go completely through it. Install in the O2 sensor bung, then install the O2 sensor into it. But only do it to the secondary O2 sensors that would be after where the pre cat was. Here's a couple of pics of what I'm talking about:

No Titans are not that fast, but do a search on the forums. Toomnymod's titan recently ran 12.9 on the 1/4 mile. RB'stitan broke 13's in the 1/4 mile...not that fast, but FAST for a 5,000 pound truck.
