Titan vs. Silverado?

So my buddy just bought the 2008 5.3l Silverado and of course he wants to race already, I cant back down to that. I know i will win but im wondering if it will be close or not. Let me know how many truck lengths i should win by. It will be around a 1/4 mile.

Re: Titan vs. Silverado?

With the mods you have, you should beat him. However that Banks is killing your low end torque. I bet if you switched that out with a different exhaust you would beat him by a lot more.

I should be him? Are you saying it will be close? Yeah i know that the banks is killing my low end torque but the 2* timing should help out.

Re: Titan vs. Silverado?

drop the stock y pipe back in your banks setup and youll be good to go. silverado 08's are pretty slow stock. youll get him by about 2 carlengths give or take a carlength or so.

Im leaving my truck just like it is. Now im thinking that it will be a pretty even race, since everyone is downing the banks on my exhaust.

Re: Titan vs. Silverado?

Your Titan is faster than the Silverado, as long as you don't let him get a good jump on you I bet you win going away.

I destroy my buddies 08 Sierra every time we race, and look at me, I'm running 35s. You will leave him behind.

Re: Titan vs. Silverado?

We have silverado's at work most of them are 4.8s which were as fast as my V6 F150 I had before my Titan. The Silverado is heavier and has less HP (I believe) so you should definately win. However in the long run... who cares!

Re: Titan vs. Silverado?

You should take the win.. but it will also depend on his set up. You say a 5.3, but is it an ext cab or crew cab? Which gears?

My father-in-law bought an 08 crew cab 5.3 with the 3.42 gear. It's a little sluggish off the line, but pulls pretty good in the higher rpm range. The 3.73's make a big difference off the line.

If your buddy has 3.73's then the battle will be at the launch, although the Titan should pull on the top end.
