Well it was definitely a kill but it's kinda like bragging that i killed a squirrel with a 30-06 or somehting. LOL! anyways yesterday i was in town and was at an intersection where there are 3 lanes and the far left one ends after a few hundred feet or so and i'm in the middle lane. well a newer (early 2000-ish) grand prix gt (not to be confused with the gtp which are quick) pulls up in the lane that ends and as the light gets ready to change he starts creeping up further and further like he's gonna go for it. well the light changes and we're off and running, due to the road being lightly wet i have to wait till i'm past all the paint stripes and everything before i can get on it hard and even then i still got a good chunk of wheelspin at 20+mph. well needless to say he ended up seeing my punisher sticker on my rear window. then we caught the next light side by side again and the same thing. he got about a half a car out of the hole because i couldn't launch (should have used 4wd but don't wanna risk destroying my front diff) due to the damp roads but once i could hammer it i was gone and pulling away hard. i would love to catch a race with a stock gtp though one day and see how close that would be. i have a friend that had a gtp and stock it was a low 15 second car and with just a S/C pulley swap, chip and CAI he was almost 14 flat at 101 mph!!!

Boring? More like edge of your seat dangerous. Why in the world are you racing on WET roads? Yikes! The GT's had a 200hp N/A 3.8L V6. 200hp in a 3400lb car makes for a mid to high 15 sec in the 1/4. Not bad for the average FWD secretaries car, but not good enough to take a Titan.
The GTP's are impressive. A simple pully swap and they're running almost a second quicker. Wish it was that easy for us to mod the Titan like that. lol! However, with cams/headers/intake/exhaust and Uprev, even the Titan could hang with a GTP.

the roads were not wet, they were just kinda damp from a very light sprinkle about 15 minutes before. it's these crapyear tires and their oh-so-great wet traction. if i had some decent tires it would have stuck, even with the torque a titan makes. the guy in the grand prix nailed it from the get go and took off. i gotta get my terra grapplers!

I just got new tires and man did it make a difference. The previous Michelin tires ($200 per tire) had horrible traction despite the good ratings I read about them. A dry road WOT launch would generally spin all through first gear and a bit into second gear. Damp roads were terrible to drive on, I refused to let my wife drive my truck during or after a rain. Any road, except for a concrete roads, it would break loose anywhere below 60mph. These new Dunlop tires I got have much better traction and less road noise and were only $127 a tire.
Even though these tires have much better traction, I still don't trust them enough to WOT on a damp or wet road.
Get some Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos. They are the best wet traction tire I've ever had. I used to have a 96 Ford Explorer with the 5.0L V8 in it. That thing would run pretty good, although the Titan will beat it now. It had some Kelly Safari tires that really sucked in wet weather, I spun the tires at 1/4 throttle. I put the Duelers on and it took more than 3/4 throttle to break them loose on wet pavement. It held that traction for the life of the tire, it was amazing.
Now they make the Revos for the 20" rims. Woooo hooo, can't wait to get these crapyears replaced.

i'm guessing your talking about the GTP with the pulley swap..cause it doesnt take even close to those mods for us to hang with a stock GTP.....i beat on on the street when i was running high 14's (intake, exhaust, 2*)...and i embarrassed one a while ago with my current mods....i wouldnt have been so bad for him but i ate him off the line
