08 Titan takes 08 Hummer H2 (H2s are faster now!)

Well, tonight I come up to a red light and I see a Hummer H2 in the other lane. I move over because I like to accelerate quick and don't like anyone in front of me, but didn't intend on racing this guy.

Light turns green I start accelerating, then I hear the Hummer's engine revving. I'm thinking this guy can't be serious trying to race a Titan, but he was. I punch it, but my truck didn't downshift so it holds 2nd and lugs a little. By then the Hummer is even with me, but not for long I end up pulling pretty hard past 60.

The Hummer gave a good show at the lower speeds so I'm thinking GM added some extra HP at some point. I went home and looked up the specks on a 08 Hummer H2, and they've put the Vortec 6.2L V8 paired with a 6 speed transmission, which is good for 0-60 in 8 seconds.

2008 H2
Vortec 6.2L Aluminum V8
393 HP @ 5700 rpm
415 lb-ft of torque @4300 rpm
6-speed automatic
0-60 in 8 sec

BTW: I have a 100% stock 08.5 Titan LE CC 4X4

well you weigh about a ton less so you should have blown the doors off of him. Hell a Tc should be able to kill an H2. I think i saw one in a mag that had a STS turbo on it making like 500hp and only doing low 15's high 14's.

Re: 08 Titan takes 08 Hummer H2 (H2s are faster now!)

Well, I wasn't expecting a race. My transmission was in 2nd gear at one of those points where it would just stay in gear and not down shift to 1st. After it shifted to 3rd though I pretty much owned him.

On the other hand he floored it from the beginning and I was playing catch up for a little ways. Oh well, it was a kill anyways.

Saleen, ASC | Editorials Blog & Discussions at Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords Magazine

i read this short article and it seems that thier parent company is in financial trouble while Saleen Inc is at the mercy of them.

EDIT: nevermind, this explains it...
