Lost to wife's Camary

Last Saturday night, I was on my way home from a b-day part and had my brother-n-law and his girl friend riding in my truck with me. I'm stopped at a Red Light and see my wife rolling up on side of me in her 07 Camry SE v6. She hadn't come to a complete stop yet and the light turns green. Well I hear her car burn rubber so I stand on the gas pedal. She got about a half a car length jump on me and pulled another half a car length on me by 75mph when be both started slowing down to turn on another street.

She then called me and said that she just put me some gray stripes on my truck. My brother-n-law and his girl friend hear this because I had my cell on speaker phone. Needless to say, I'm still hearing sh!t talk from my wife, b-n-l, and his girlfriend. My wife even finds it necessary to tell my friends.

I guess loosing to a car, that I've read runs mid to low 14s, isn't that bad considering I'm in a 05 Crew Cab Chevy with a 5.3L. Now, I'm determined to not let this happen again....time for more mods.

Re: Lost to wife's Camary

Same thing happened to me on a freeway onramp. Those camries have decent powerplants.

It surprised me.

I wish that were true, but unfortunately the Titan would have to have a some mods to run mid to low 14s. My truck has been high 14s and the Camry still pulled a lenght on me.

Re: Lost to wife's Camary

she also had a head start by not being at a complete stop like you were..

both stopped at a light might have been a different story?

Re: Lost to wife's Camary

My wife has an '07 Rav4 with the 270hp V6. Although I haven't had a real world test, I wouldn't be suprised if it could beat my Titan 0-60. Probably could smoke some Tundras too. That thing will pin you to the seat - that's why we call it the Rav Rocket.

Re: Lost to wife's Camary

yeah the new v6 family cars are sick nowdays! i think the camry, altima and accord v6's are ALL in the mid 14's stock. that's really sick because i remember when mid 14's was crazy fast for a sports car. 99% of the 60's musclecars weren't even in the 14's stock, even the big blocks.

Re: Lost to wife's Camary

All good stories..

Before I got my truck I was driving a Pontiac G6 GTP (3.9L). Even though the car weighs a ton it still ran damn fast. The GTP ran 0 to 60 6.2 seconds and the quarter mile is in the low 14's just under 100mph.

To enforce others comments, family sedan cars are really quick.

Re: Lost to wife's Camary

Last time I was at the track, a guy there had a brand new G35 sedan and was clicking off 13.50s in the 1/4.

My mom has a E500 Mercedes and with the traction control on it is a little sluggish. I use her car a few weeks ago and I turned the traction control off. Left from a red light with the car getting a lil sideways and left 2 nice dark black lines. With the traction control off, it even scratches the tires with the auto trans shifts to 2nd gear. When I got back to her house, she was under the garage when I pulled up. She was asking why her car smelled like that....LOL.....I told her if she would put her foot in it every now and then, it wouldn't smell like that.
