Beat an X-Runner

Had a guy talking trash about our Titans saying hed stomp one anyday... So I had a friend call him up to see if he wanted to run his truck (Toyota X-Runner). He had a few mods (Intake, Short Shifter) and the only things I have done are (Nismo CAI, Poweraid TBS). We ran about 5 times.. 4 of which he kept misshifting gears... going from 2nd to 5th a few times. So finally the 5th time we get a good run... I stall it at about 1500rpms and hit the horns... he jumped me at first stayed ahead for a bit but once I hit the end of 2nd gear going into 3rd I left him... Beat him by about 1 1/2 - 2 trucks... Thought it was a pretty good race even though I thought he was going to stomp me at first... seeing as our 08 Titans seem to be a lil slower than those with 04-07s

Re: Beat an X-Runner

You gotta admit that 2nd gear in these trucks can be a lot of fun.

Re: Beat an X-Runner

IDK if they're actually slower or not I just see a lot of people getting a lot more performance wise out of their 04-07s than we do in our 08s

Re: Beat an X-Runner

The VVT is nice I wish there was a controller for it like the honda's VTEC. 2* advance , exhaust swap, K&N drop in, and a modded airbox all help a little. I just need a true CAI or ram air and some headers But before that I NEED UPREV. I would love to go to the track and race another Titan!

Re: Beat an X-Runner

well it is believed that the 08's are tuned differently causing some performance loss, but ya they are the same as the 07's with the VVT and all....there is a guy in our group who goes to the track with us and he has an 08...he runs a high 15 all day with an intake....while i was running 15.27-15.3 with intake and a 2* timing advance...but then you look at silverstar and he runs a 15.3 stock in his 08.....well one thing didnt change in 08 from all the previous years, every truck is different...and an x-runner is a low - to mid 15 second truck stock....so i say nice kill.....On october 10th we are having a meeting at the track and some x-runners from another forum are coming to race...look out for that video lol

Do you have BT package? I'm sure the lower gear ratio(numerically higher) helps... I've been thinking about doing an axle swap to the 3.36 just don't want to lose cruise or deal with speedo inaccuracies.

ya i forgot to add (but just added it) in my previous post the 08 that runs with us has an intake too.....you never know, maybe the intake the 08 has that runs with us screwed up his afr and thats why he runs those times, but i do believe i have seen him run 15.3 too, and the wierd thing is that i was running low 15's also the same day...then on several other days he's high 15's while i was STILL low 15's...i dont understand it myself........anyway, you coming to the track with us on the 5th or the 10th Silverstar?? should be a lot of fun, especially on the pre-OT 10th meet...def some x-runners and i also posted the meet infor on a Tundra forum, so hopefully they will come too

Re: Beat an X-Runner

i wish i could but i have to work that weekend. i have been dying to get new times with the hypertech. the last time i wet to go to G'ville to run i found out that they are only open everyother wed. now until november and they are the wednesdays that i have to work. i have a wierd schedule at the S.O. and it makes things difficult sometimes. Anyway i am planning on going to G'ville to run on the 3rd wed of nov. anybody else up for a G'ville night???? i might have to post this in the racing forum and see if i can get some titans to come out.
oh and i don't have BT, just plain ole crappy 2.96 gears. they must work though because some of our fastest titans are non-BT.
