Made a few passes at the track

I've been reading this forum for a while and its helped me many times, and i finally decided to join and share what I know. For some background information I have a 2005 Titan Se king cab 4x2 with almost 60,000 miles and I just started modding it. I made some quarter mile passes at Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio on January 1st and thought i'd see what everyone thought about my runs. (keep in mind it was 20 degrees and we got about 4 inches snow the night before. There was a 20.09 second index for everyone too. Also you had to go below 28 seconds to get a time)

1st practice run

Me (left lane)
Reaction 1.3529
60 ft. 4.7702
1/8 et. 17.4049
1/4 et. 25.2351
1/4 mph 62.15

Ford ranger (right lane)
Reaction 1.4490
60 ft. 6.9110
1/8 et. none
1/4 et. none
1/4 mph none

2nd practice run

Me (left lane)
Reaction 1.0161
60 ft. 3.8248
1/4 et. 21.1690
1/4 mph 82.55

Chevy 2500 quad cab (right lane)
Reaction .0209
60 ft. 5.7340
1/4 et. 27.0112
1/4 mph 65.96

3rd practice run

Me (right lane)
Reaction .9008
60 ft. 5.8821
1/4 et. 25.1661
1/4 mph 83.79

2007 BMW sedan (not sure what model)
Reaction .3520
60 ft. 4.0100
1/4 et. 28.3898
1/4 mph 47.83

1st elimination round

Me (left lane)
Reaction .7189
60 ft. 5.2901
1/4 et. 27.1882
1/4 mph 36.29

Chevy 2500 quad cab (again, Right lane)
Reaction .4500
60 ft. 9.7957
1/4 et. none
1/4 mph none

He was almost in the wall and was at the 1/8 when i was at the quarter so I was on the brakes pretty hard

2nd elimination round

Me (left Lane)
Reaction .6850
60 ft. 4.8690
1/4 et. 22.17
1/4 mph 85.70

Nissan sentra 2.0 (right lane)
Reaction .3609
60 ft. 4.2241
1/4 et. .4652
1/4 mph 71.52

I lost by .0297 seconds because of reaction time. It kind of made me made because of how hard I was pulling on him though. There was a silver titan there but he was in the 4x4 class so i'm not sure how he did, and sorry about the page set up. I couldn't get both cars side by side without it making everything a mess.

Re: Made a few passes at the track

Interesting Post. Your Speed wasn't really far off, unlike the ET's. Awful cold air and track. Be sure your Transmission and Rear are warmed up a bit so you don't have "cold impact" to worry about.

Re: Made a few passes at the track

I was just wondering if anyone else has tried something like this with their Titan. This was the tracks 10th annual "hangover national" race where they race regardless conditions, and like I said there was about four inches of snow the night before and they made two passes on each lane with a plow just to get the main snow off the width of the track. This left that little bit of snow and on the track the plow couldn't take off and with about 300 cars there it turned to ice. I was spinning the tires until about 20 mph and then i'd left off to try to hook and then even if i went up to about 40 mph and then floor it around the 1/8 i could still spin the tires and just had to try to find traction but if i did floor it around the 1/8 i would hook a little bit after that if that makes any sense. There were quite a few cars that didn't get a time and i don't think any two wheel drive cars even got to the 20.09 index. and it was a 30 minute drive to the track so everything should have been warmed up and i don't think the truck could have cooled down that much waiting in the staging lanes.

And heres a link to the track website that hosted the event. http://www.dragway42.com/
The pics that they have posted don't really do justice to the early rounds of eliminations and practice. And no. I'm not a troll. I wouldn't consider getting rid of the titan.

Re: Made a few passes at the track

His story has legs. We have a track in Illinois that does the New Year runs in foul conditions, but nothing that harsh.

Re: Made a few passes at the track

I know I'm bumping an old thread but I was on streetfire today and found a vid from the race I was talking about. Thought you guys might want to see what real drag racing was. This video said it was from a ram. this was later in the day, and the right lane was the worst

Re: Made a few passes at the track

Thats pretty cool, never seen races in those conditions.

Would've been interesting to see the Sentra run that, to me at least.

Yeah it was pretty funny but it lead to a lot of close calls. They had to keep announcing that they were not responsible for accidents and you had to have insurance lol.
